There is a long storied history. I get a kick out of "it is a great rivalry" comment. Michigan would not play Notre Dame from 1943 to 1977, mainly because it was a Catholic school. Notre Dame wanted to be in the Big Ten in the 1st half of the 20th century. Again, being a Catholic university, they were voted down for membership. Now all you Michigan fans are going to be incredulous with this next statement. If you ask any Domer, they really do not think Michigan is a big rival. Both Michigan State and USC are much bigger rivals in the eyes of a Domer.

Excellent performance by the Irish, no doubt about it. As a UM fan, the game had me cringing the entire game. The O-Line is pathetic, and you cannot blame gardener either. ND completely outplayed us.

Good job leg3. As an ND alum I can recall some 38-0 ass-kickings at the hands of the Wolverines, so I can appreciate how you're feeling. It's not easy to show the sportsmanship you're showing. This was a great series-so many great games with great finishes-that I'm sorry to see it end. Whether you root for ND or Michigan, I think we agree that college football is less interesting without this annual game.

Since the integration of the forward pass in college football (aka when actual football began) the teams are tied 17-17 overall. Also, when comparing the two universities academically, take a look at the methodology of the surveys. You'll realize many of them lend themselves -- either directly or indirectly -- to the larger schools with more alumni. Not exactly the rankings I would like to base my claims on...

Can someone please explain these comments to me? In September of 2014, Michigan lost against Notre Dame. We all understand that, everyone agrees, Michigan got blown off the field. These comments, though, are all about how stupid and shitty Michigan is and how great ND is. Michigan has the advantage in the series record, they're the most winning football team of all time, and when they played in the Big House last year, Michigan won the game. So any argument that Michigan football is inferior to Notre Dame football is simply incorrect, and all the Irish fans know that deep down. Yes, ND destroyed Michigan this year, but that means nothing in retrospect or when you look at the record overall. Every school goes through down-periods, and the past few years have been Michigan's. Then people talk about academics. Really? Michigan is a public school, ND is private, and even with that being said, MOST international university rankings place Michigan ahead of Notre Dame. Only rankings like the US News ranking that take into account the number of dollars put towards each student (which is obviously higher in private schools) is Notre Dame placed ahead. The Shanghai Ranking, The Times Higher Education Ranking, and other ranking systems all place Michigan ahead. It's funny that all of these education jokes came up because some guy, who probably can't even spell Ann Arbor yet alone attended the University, made a stupid comment about Michigan football being better than ND football this year, which is obviously wrong! In the end, Michigan is better on the football field overall, they dominate in every other sport over ND like basketball, and we have equal if not better academics. So all of you Notre Dame fans, keep your hate comments directed towards the single loss that Notre Dame gave Michigan a couple of days ago, and don't compare the universities in general, because you and I both know that Michigan is NOT inferior to Notre Dame in any way.
