Notre Dame should join a conference because there is a committee of people selecting 12 teams out of 25 ranked teams for playoffs spots. And, theoretically, 100+ other teams competing for and influencing playoff spots as well. So it stands to reason that the more comparable everyone’s schedules and post seasons are, the more objective they can be. It’s not that complicated. Take the ND blinders off lol. I get it’s a point of pride and for good reason. It makes you unique, but that’s just the fact of the matter. And I can’t imagine anyone who’s been affiliated with Penn state circa 2000 and later even cares about independence, Franklin included. And, I’ll add that as a Penn State fan who regularly watches Franklin’s press conferences. From where I’m sitting he was just poised and commanding the room per usual. And he jokes with everyone. I think Marcus Freeman is too busy preparing with the quick turnaround to make this a Michael Jordan esque “and I took that personally” moment

That GA win by ND is overblown. GA was not as good as it's been in the past. The entire SEC is down. Texas is going to get blown out. Look at the SEC’s bowl record this year. 7 out of the top 9 teams lost. 6 of those losses were to big 10 teams.

Franklin is definitely a dork. The whole independent thing is ND's problem, though. No one is envious of ND's independence, they just aren't. It's just a little quirk of ND. Actually it's a pretty big one, and it does make ND come off as arrogant and elitist, or even more than just come off that way. So naturally it will annoy people. And it's nothing, just this one football program who refuses to join a conference even though there's no real necessity to, not yet at least. But it also happens to be the most famous and prestigious brand in CFB. And so it's going to come up!

In the long run, Abdul Carter is at WORST a top 10 pick in the draft. This late in the year you don’t want to risk a serious injury to your shoulder especially considering the position he plays which is OLB. I think he will play but should be limited to a snap count due to his future.

PSU fan. Anybody who understands football knows this is a tossup. ND plays such sound D and is really fast. I do think PSU is a better team if they play well, but we haven't played a complete game all year. Dumb penalties and missed assignments could be our downfall. Much respect for ND, especially knowing the number of starters that are injured and have been out. Good luck in the game. I think it will be an instant classic and a great chess match. Regarding the PSU guy - there are others less smack talking that know more and played FB. Landon Tengwall did a film breakdown of the ND D and was nothing but complimentary about them.
