Since Sakyamuni Buddha disappeared from the sight of the world upon reaching the final great Nirvana, two thousand five hundred and forty-four years have passed.
While more than half the planet has been influenced by his thinking, his story has been variously interpreted.
Buddha is best known through the Tibetan exegetical tradition. But the true life of man is little known and its meaning has often been distorted by religious people.
It is in search of this man, a true visionary anarchist that we set out:
- the one who wanted to explode the caste system (which still poisons India today).
- the one who had forbidden his representation (the first image of the Buddha dates from 7 centuries after his death).
- the one who invented the law of causality (the relevance of which scientists are rediscovering).
Far from being a religious film, this film aims to retrace the life and doctrine of the Buddha in the places where he lived.
His founding texts are explained by lay practitioners: peasants, children, wise men but also by monks in the very places where he taught 2500 years earlier.
