The thing is Wooyoung and San are really close and they're always together, that's why people call them Woosan, even the members call them that and they also introduce themselves as Woosan. So Seonghwa is said to always want to get into Woosan's conversations and stuff like that and Wooyoung and San always tell him no, that's why Seonghwa said "how about Woosanhwa?" And so Wooyoung and San laughed their asses off lmao, they were like okay you tried kakdksjs. Wooyoung and San adore him tho, he's one of the closest members to them, they're really affectionate w each other, Woosan's bubble is just way too small for the three of them lmao

That 2. scene form Codename Ateez you had no context to: it was an acting lesson: Seonghwa had to imitate San's moves/words, so San made fun of him by going 'look at that guy' (that guy = Seonghwa). Seonghwa's 'revenge' was when it switched to him leading the moves and he could throw that wanna-be punch at San ;P

If people would just learn Hangul aka the easiest alphabet in the world, we wouldn't have these discussions rn! LOL BTW...you're not exactly correct either...I'm not trying to be mean btw...Imma try to transcribe them phonetically to the best of my ability but again, I wish people would just learn hangul. Yunho is more like Yoon-oh, Seonghwa as song-wa is pretty close, although the "o" and "eo" letters in Korean are a bit different but that's fine. As for Wooyoung...it does sound like that but the w is not silent! It's not even a w! In Korean there is no W letter...it's actually U that you just read as 'oo' cause that's how the language works lol. PS: Romanization is evil and I hate it lol. Learn the Korean alphabet people ! the “w” in some korean names like Wooyong’s is just because of the romanization but it’s pronounced like “u” sound and the same goes for others romanization like in Soobin’s name, the double “o” is also pronounced like an “u” or in Seonghwa case the “wa” is pronounced as “u-a” (sorry if something is wrong, english is not my first language)

Idk if anyone needs this but this is how to pronounce their names Ateez - A (not long A sound) tease Seonghwa - See ong (say Seong quickly) hwa Hongjoong- Huh ong (say this quickly too lmao) joong (long o sound) Yunho - You know Yeosang- yo sang (long a sound) San - sand (without the d sound and a long A sound) Mingi- min gi (a g sound, not j) Wooyoung - woo young Jongho- j Uh ng hoe (lmao I’m sorry Jongho xdd) Btw if you don’t know the long A sound and the short a sound I’ll type some examples of what they sound like. Long A has the same A sound as ‘Avocado’. Short A is the same sound as ‘Ape’. Long O sound makes the sound ‘ooo’. A word that has a long O is ‘Goo’ or ‘Google’ Have a nice day. I hope this helped. Sorry about my terrible explanation skills. :)

It's okay if you can't pronounce their names correctly. There are a few groups that I still have trouble saying some the members' names. Like I can't pronounce monsta x hyungwon's name correctly, and I've been a monbebe for almost 3 years. It took me forever to stop saying choi as 'choy' when it's 'chae'. It was frustrating at first, but I got used to it. What I do when I watch compilations is I listen to how the members pronounce each other's names, and repeat it whenever it's said until it sounds as close as possible. All I can tell you is when you see a name with 'woo' in it pretend the 'w' isn't there. Some examples: wooyoung: oo-young, wonwoo: won-oo, sunwoo: sun-oo, woosung: oo-sung, woojin: oo-jin, wooseok: oo-seok. I pronounce yunho as yoo-no, and seonghwa as song-wa like the 'wa' in water. I think it's the way it's romanized that makes me mispronunce names. Like how yunho and vav's ayno have the same name, but one is spelled yunho while the other is yoonho.

tbh most fans don't pronounce their names right anyway so i wouldn't rely too much on what the fans say lmao. also, romanizations of korean are never 100% accurate as there isn't always an equivalent in english for certain sounds in korean ive found that the best way (besides learning to read hangul) is to copy and paste the Hangul (Korean) spelling of their names into the Korean section of google translate and listen to the audio (the Korean audio NOT the english translated audio), or listen to how the members themselves say it. they tend to say their names faster than we would lol so it takes a few clips to really hear them correctly. don't worry about it too much, you'll get it eventually!

OK, in Korean, "Woo" makes the the English, "Ooh" or short "u" sound. Examples are Wooyoung of ATEEZ, Woozi or Wonwoo of Seventeen. Wonwoo is a a perfect example of 2 types of English written "W" that aren't pronounced the same. While, "Won" is pronounced like the Korean currency, the "Woo" is pronounced as "ooh". So, you're suppose to pronounce Wonwoo as "Wonu". You have to remember Romanization of the Korean language are not going to create perfect sounds because their Hangul (letters) are based on a variety of sounds that can change, based on how it's displayed where as in English to write similar words with similar letters would create similar rhyming sounds. Korean doesn't work that way. Korean words can sound similar but look nothing alike. Also, Korean pronounces a lot of sounds from the back of the throat. In Korean, "Hw" makes the English, "Wuh" sound. Examples are Hwasa of MAMAMOO, Hwiyoung of SF9 and Hwall formerly of The Boyz. So, anytime you see this cluster, it is forcing the "W" sound to be made. So, yes with the "Hwa'" it is making the "Wah" sound.

Honestly, when pronouncing Yunho you can omit H sound because that’s the way ATEEZ and Yunho pronunce the name but according to (Hangul and) Korean pronounciation, H isn’t silent. So Jongho and Hongjoong are both pronounced with H sound. As you can do with Yunho (it’s just that they themselves pronounce it without H). For Wooyoung W is definitely silent because there isn’t W sound in Korean (Hangul) it’s just written in that way in English because it’s most similar to Korean pronunciation. So you are pronuncing Wooyoung’s name right (with silent W). For Seonghwa you are pronouncing it pretty well it, it’s just more of UA rather then strong sound W makes (hence W being silent). But you are doing really well 😄👏🏻 Actually the worst pronounciation usually happens when someone tries to pronounce Choi (San and Jongho’s surnames) 😂😂 Most people pronounce it wrong, even hardcore ATINYs (which obviously I mean if they don’t already speak Korean) without knowing it 😄 Hope that this helped and that I explained it well 😅 Lots of love from Croatia 🇭🇷

@clara79045 жыл бұрын
Ellie P. I did already and I know Hangul. I also realize that it’s hard to explain Korean pronunciation while using romanization and obviously I know that Korean, as every other language, has rules. While H sound is pronounced weaker between vowels it’s still there, you can clearly hear it if you listen when he or members are pronouncing JONGHO’s name (as I said). While in YUNHO case when members or him are referring to his name it often sounds like there isn’t a H sound although, as I explained, it’s clearly there when you see his name written in Hangul. Also you will hear VARIOUS pronunciations when it comes to hearing names of people, they usually vary because people come from different regions and pronounce them differently. So when it comes to persons name I tend to respect how PEARSON WITH THAT NAME pronounces his own name! I did not, however in any way say that you should pronounce their or some else’s name how you “feel like it”. I suggest reading a bit more carefully other comments and being mindful about what you yourself write.

That moment when seonghwa need to imitate san and san says "look at that dude" and seonghwa's reaction was pissed off, you're confused what's happening right? In korea you can't talk informally to someone older than you unless he/she allows you. It's so disrespectful for them when you talk to them not using a Formal form of sentence. Cause in korea there's 2 type of sentences you should use. Casual form if you're talking to very close friends or younger than you. And formal form to those you just met for the first time, your boss or someone older than you. That's why seonghwa looks so pissed when san using casual form of sentence to him 😂😂😂
