I'd love for cauldrons to be able to mix potions. Right click a potion into cauldron and it will fill it 1/3, so then you can add up to 2 more potions to make a combined mixture to all 3. I've been tinkering around with my own concept for a potion-crafting rework for a while now, and I had a different idea for a Brewing Stand recipe book (and Cauldron, but ill get to that later) The basic idea is that it doesn't tell you what things make straight away. A big part of alchemy to me is the experimentation, and picking up an ingredient for the game to tell you "oh yea, this can be used to make a potion of healing", while it could work, I feel it takes away from the whole experimental aspect of the system. I would instead propose a system where obtaining the ingredient has the game simply tell you "this can be used to make a potion" but not what potion it makes, meaning the player has to brew the ingredient themselves to see what potion it produces, and only then would you unlock the whole recipe for said potion. Also part of this concept was to give the ability of making potions back to the Cauldron where it belongs. Alongside this, it would get a simple (And OPTIONAL*, that is important!) UI with the classic ingredient slot, fluid slot, progress bar (The cauldron could be extra slow, and maybe heating it with hot blocks like a campfire could speed it up a bit as well?), and the recipe book as discussed earlier, as well as potentially a new tree of recipes utilizing the Fermented Spider Eye to make either Mundane or Thick potions, then continuing from there. Also modifying potions would be moved exclusively to the Brewing Stand, and certain potions that are made by brewing existing potions with fermented spider eyes could instead be made normally using different ingredients (One idea I saw was Slimeballs for slowness, Red Mushrooms for Harming, Spider Eye for poison, and rotten flesh for weakness) This would A. Make basic potions obtainable pre-Nether, and B. Make the upgrade to a Brewing Stand and brewing with Nether Wart more substantial. *the Cauldron having a UI would simply be to provide more information, such as the progress, present fluid, and access to the recipe book. I imagine the primary way of interacting with it would still be in-world.
@statelyelms11 ай бұрын
Ooh I like this. If I got the gist of it, brewing basic potions would be from dropping ingredients into a water-filled cauldron and adding time or potency would be moved to the brewing stand? I love it, it feels like it makes sense! Maybe some potions are supposed to be made hot while others are meant to be made cold so fire had to be ignited or snuffed depending on the potion. Of course, that would mean we need more potions.. which I *definitely want.*
@MythrilBagels11 ай бұрын
@@statelyelms I was thinking that the Brewing Stand could still make regular potions as well, since it would be like an upgrade to the cauldron. Also for your idea of different heat requirements, while that could work, it might not be necessary. I think the simpler approach of having heat just speed up the processing a bit would be nicer. And as for more potions, there aren't really a whole lot of effects that would be worthwhile, even in the default selection. Minecraft is a simple game, it already has a lot of the bases covered when it comes to potion effects. Though if you have any specific ideas, I'd love to discuss

For the fletching table; I always felt it would be cool to have different types of arrows that needed the table and some of the lesser used materials to alter them. This would go along with the infamously teased combat update, making archery more like an rpg with specialized arrows These arrows could do a bunch of things, such as knocking things back like how the new Breeze does in trial dungeons, or makes mobs freeze for a short moment like in powdered snow I also think this would be a good way to revamp and/or rework the bundle into a Quiver Item. Since bows can only shoot 1 type of arrow at a time, people would probably just make 1 type of arrow they’d use permanently, but a quiver would allow them to carry between a stack of 1 type of arrows, or 1 arrow of 64 different types. Bows would probably shoot the first slot arrows before moving on, but I think the quiver could be cycled 1 slot over to swap arrow types by punching the air with the quiver/bow in hand Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

What if the fletching table allowed you to make different type of arrows. For example, a spiral arrow that has a higher velocity, but is smaller and does less damage. The ball joint arrow that is slower, but has higher damage and is larger. The ballista bolt, a large arrow made from iron, planks and more feathers, which can only be fired from a ballista turret. And etc
@EmberOldAccount8 ай бұрын
I actually have an idea for how the fletching table could work. Arrow customization. Instead of using a stick, a fether, and flint. You could change out the stick and tip for something else, different materials would have different damage, as well as other stuff like speed, weight, knockback, or other special effects. For example, gold tips would give higher speed and lower weight at the cost of some damage, using iron Instead of a stick would have more knockback at the cost of weight, blaze rods would cause the arrow to loght on fire or extend the fire duration if you have the flame enchant. Also, not only would the tip material be customizable, but the type of tip as well, you have the regular tips, serrated tips which are slower and do less damage but after hitting an enemy tick that damage multiple times, flat tips with drastically reduce speed and increase weight but come with a lot of knockback, also explosive tips which normally only explode upon coming in contact with fire but if you use a blaze rod, they'll explode on hit or after a certain time. So tl;dr you could use the fletching table to make cool different arrows.

I also use tipped arrows as support in many other ways, such as giving slow falling to cross gaps or caverns, and fire resistance for if me or a friend accidentally takes a flesh-melting hot tub bath in lava! Concidering arrows can be held in a full stack of 64 whereas potions can (currently) only be held one per slot, I see this as being really space efficient as well. :]

2:11 gold is actually conductive too so the recipe is fine but it would be good if copper powered rails existed but would just be a bit weaker

Gold aslo conducts electricity, and is actually better at it than copper, so it makes sense for powered rails to be crafted with gold.

Gold is significantly more conductive than copper, but I agree with changing powered rails to copper.

Maybe the fletching table could be used to craft a new type of bow, one made using bamboo or something. We could have the regular bow but rebalanced to have a shorter range, lower damage and faster draw speed while the new longbow would have higher range and damage but also a slower draw speed. I also think we should be able to do more with cauldrons, like cooking stews and similar types of food. Maybe we could go one step further by combining food with potions to create super food.

Please don’t. The only thing I would change would be a block that allows you to “uncraft” items back to their raw materials (the only cost would be experience, like an enchanting table).

Woodcutter, the stonecutter is an amazing addition to the game that makes building with stone way easier, but it still takes 6 oak planks to make 4 stairs, which yeah sure wood is easy to get it still doesn’t make sense why there is no stonecutter equivalent for wood

Okay, I know Minecraft and terraria are extremely different games, and I love them both (not equally), but I seriously think a bow update would be really cool. Ever since the first time I played Minecraft, I loved the bow. It was the first time I had experienced a bow in a video game and I got pretty decent with it. And then Mojang added tipped arrows, and I thought "Sick!" because now I can poison my friend from range! And then they added the Trident. Then the shield and crossbow. Then they also let the crossbow shoot fireworks (which is cool and think should be reserved for the crossbow only). And I felt like the bow was just kind of left behind. And I always thought it would be so cool if you could make different types of arrows at a fletching table: an arrow that ricochets, and arrow that can pierce armor, an arrow that does low damage but high knockback, an arrow that sets things on fire (like the flame enchantment but cooler), an arrow that makes a small explosion, an arrow that could pass through a single wall (this would also coincidentally improve the spectral arrow), an arrow that makes blocks where it lands, an arrow that summons lightning where it hits, an arrow that homes slightly, you get the idea. Please Mojang, can you do me this one favor.

As a data pack maker , NBT capable crafting would be GAME CHANGING , because now you can use regular items and then turn them into a knowledge book wich give and advancement wich trigger the give command of the actual custom item . If you add NBT to both ingredient and what you're crafting you give the datapack community a full easy and "simple" way of using customs items and saving LOTS of time ( I would say 3 to 5 times faster )

The recipe book in brewing shoud definitely be different from the one in crafting table. I think it should only show the potions if the player has already found the recipe, to allow experimentation and discovery, but it should also give some clues, about what to do (how are you supoosed to know you have to start with a nether wart?). Also recipes and the way potions are made should be changed. Maybe some recipes could be in the book from the beginning and some would have to be discovered.

As far as potions go, i am a huge magic nerd in all games so heres what ive always thought. They have awkward potions as the base potion for about every recipe. Mundane should be this, awkward should be the base potion but inverted. So a mundane potion would make a healing potion with a glistening melon, but an awkard potion would make a damage potion. The names just match up to what i would expect. On top of that, they should habe thick potions AND thin potions. Thick potions could increase the "saturation" of a potion. I.e. the time while also slowly increasing in strength over the course of the duration as it gets absorbed, until fading back out. Giving them more power but only in a short window. Thin potions could have boosted effects but over a very short time. So a regen 3 effect for only a few seconds. But drinkable very quickly. Splash potions would simply be area of effect and could not benifit from thin or thick since you arnt drinking it. Lingering potions could have a quick burn off if thin. And a slower burn off if thick. Get rid of inverting through spider eyes to make mundane a choice, and adjust redstone and glowstone as such. Redstone boosts the time of a potion but will be less effective if glowstone is added and vise versa. This makes it possibke to get bonuses from both while still having a loss that isnt hust one or the other. Potions become a more in deoth system, while allowing different uses for playstyles. And for fucks sake they should at least stack to 16. I would also like to mention that couldrons need some utility. I think a fireplace under one could make the bottles of water hot, making potions cook faster. And being able to make inferior potions in a couldron would open up potions early and still provide utility after potion stands come into play. As someone else has mentioned, mixing potions with it could be possible, with the limit being that any redstone or glowstone effects would cancel out. So you have weaker base potions but with mutliple effects.

i got a theory about the fletching table! in 1.16, it was probably planned to add a use to the fletching table, and we could guess that because they added the target, a block that is fletching related and that was a bit out-of-place in a nether update. However, when 1.16 was firstly announced, they showed some biomes and the target block, , which was surely made on purpose to lead players into thinking that there would be a use for the fletching table in this update, but it was not implemented because minecraft noticed that the two biomes showed in the trailer were not enough, so instead of working on the fletching table, they added more biomes, which took so much time they even needed to crunch

I feel like minecraft should break it down into work benches for example you would have a carpentry bench for design and something for tools and an armory I think this would really make the game feel fresh and make it feel more complicated but still something easy to learn

in my opinion, for minecart to be usefull, mojang should upgrade the motorized minecart. For example, there coule be 9 slots, fill one would be like now but if you fill the 9 it would consume 9 time more items but go 9 times as fast. It would make coal usefull in late game, and provide an automatisable, reliable way of transportation

Fletching tables could be an overhaul of the bow. Like its a 1x2 crafting table where you can craft the bow using 1 stick and 1 string. 1 arrow and then one potion or glowdust for tipped arrows. Or hell, they could even split the bow between short and long with you only normally getting the normal bow with the crafting table. The shortbow would be more accurate, powerful, and faster but be at a super short range. The longbow could shoot much farther with more damage but at the cost of being slower and less accurate. How would crossbows fit in? Simply, it'd let you make them for the cost of a shortbow which would be cheaper. If shortbows were added, their cost would be the 1 stick and string in the fletching table and be locked to that table. Then you could combine them with another item to upgrade it into a cheaper crossbow. The fletching table would be the only place you can get these reduced costs, tipped arrows, and specialty bows. They could even introduce things like iron or daimond arrows that act as stronger arrows. They do more damage on a hit but can't be used to make tipped arrows. Iron arrow would be made using a flint arrow and an iron. Daimond arrow would be made using an iron arrow and daimond. Iron arrows would basically be like criting with a bow, while daimonds would be double that. It'd be worth its cost. Diamond arrows also don't break upon hitting a mob and simply shoot straight through them like piercing but can only hit up to two. The only way you'd lose it is if it hit lava or despawned. And then netherite would be full piercing and wouldn't be destroyed in lava. Though the netherite would probably need the smithing table rather than the fletching table. Iron arrows could be used with all bows and crossbows as a direct upgrade but diamond arrows can only be used with the normal base-game bow as a limited super upgrade. Opens up a large ballgame for the bow and arrow community. Edit: Also compound bows which could use that scope you mentioned

I think a good use for the fletching talks would be to customize you’re tools cuz 1 we already have that for armour with the new trims so maybe you could make it like a banner so if you wanted to make you’re fishing rod half red half blue you could do that (I know it’s supposed to be stick and arrow stuff because it’s a fletching table but tools do have sticks and for fishing rods string also when was the last time Minecraft was realistic)

tipped arrows are cracked in bedrock because you can make them using a cauldron with a potion in it and it makes a bunch of them, plus you don’t even need a lingering potion, just the base drinkable one. i can literally one shot armored zombies with a max bow with instant damage 2
