It always amazes me how the sceptics always, without fail, ignore the evidence..

Look, I understand that anecdotal evidence isn't enough for scientists but to me the stories are compelling.

I'm sure there is life after death but the believers are often guilty.of the same thing - not looking at all the evidence, believing selectively what they want. It's just as ignorant to be skeptical of science as it is to be skeptical of the mystical.

These doctor scientist skeptics are scared to identify any little thing as mystical or spiritual because then they would need to answer a whole other set of questions, which they do not have answers to. It would be a huge blow to their ego

In one case i had read about the person who was pronounced technically DEAD in the hospital room was able to recite/recall a conversation of two other family members who were not even close by in this hospital room. I beleive they were in the cafeteria on a different floor. How do the naysayers explain this? This is not possible even IF the person was alive. they still would not be able to tell what other people were talking about in a separate room on a different floor of the building! that is a hell of a magic trick!
@Macceee Жыл бұрын
Yes, "you read", that's the problem. It hasn't been verified via a real scientific study, these anecdotes are always hearsay, the info goes from mouth to mouth and the story and circumstances becomes some kind of established "truth". The cases are always debunked as soon as a real scientist investigates it. Have you actually heard an interview with these family members in the case you mention, confirming it in an interview? And even if some did, these NDE-people almost always write a book about their experience afterwards, so even if relatives did verify it, there are often monetary incentives to push the story. So this further lowers their credibility. Whenever science with scientific methods looks at this phenomenon they find that it's a brain-trip bascially, and nothing supernatural, and many "veridical" NDE:s have also been debunked, as there are other explainations in most cases, if not all, for them to have known certain stuff. Like the "shoe on the ledge" case, a great example, when they digged into this they found that the patient could actually see the ledge from the position they had in the hospital bed, case closed. And also the hispanic lady that flatlined and saw shoe worked at the hospital and could have seen this in any work shift from before! So many holes in these kind of stories. I want an afterlife to be true as much as anybody, but wishful thinking over facts is not the way to go about it either.

The immediacy of the soul's exit from the dying or dead corporeal body is in itself an enigma. This process implies dead matter is anathema to the living soul.

To that last doctor.. how can they tell if your a bad dresser if they're eyes are closed. How can they see what others are doing in the room if they're eyes are closed .

Good man Dr. Sam. I hope that in the time passed by, it is almost 7 years ago, all of you "discovered" and acknowledged the experience of all your famos colleagues, doctors, clinicians, physicists ecc that had an NDE and wrote about ( in the meantime also, NDE became a profitable business)

I'm sorry - I actually do have a hole in my retina, and my brain does not fill in the gap. I do in fact walk around w a blind spot that I can't ignore. And it is exactly like a black hole. So that guy needs to re-examine his statement.
@DAnny423h236 жыл бұрын
This is how you find out the truth: They should interview and conduct a survey of scientist and medical professionals, who also happen to be strong atheist. This pre-survey of people who meet this criteria and who later HAVE an NDE. Conduct a post-NDE survey to find out more information. These skeptical people will now have personal experience. No more hypothesis or assumptions by these professionals explaining the experiences of OTHER people. See what the survey and numbers say...questions can be "Do you believe you left your body and experiences something real or just a hallucination in your head"

Yes, if the eyes aren't open, and consciousness is not connected to the senses in any obvious way, and major brain activity is shut down ... how can someone have detailed and accurate sensory memories ... but the video cuts short.

Despite appearances, our soul (the totality of who we are) is at complete choice as to when it wants to leave and whether it wants to come back. It is not limited and so it could heal the biological machine we call the body if it wanted to.

Excellent talk. I learned a lot. Very open-minded scientists. One comment made by Sam was a bit troubling. He said that basically men doctors will read about science at night while his wife reads a novel. Hmmm. I'm a woman and I read science.
