I've been thinking about trying the Nova Color paints, and this video is really helpful. I also love how you use so many colors and layering in your portraits!

Thanks for this review. Just bought some of the 4oz. jars to try them out. Really looking for a cad red deep (dark) to replace the very expensive Lascoux paint I love. Great color choices on your demo!

Critical information on open working time, viscosity - and the logical testing before render practice. I'm a renderer - blender - maybe ironically using acrylic. So I like longer working time when doing figures, but I like faster drying when doing landscape. Do the info provided - excellent 👍

I’ve been thinking of investing in these paints, but, wondered about the quality (tired of poor paint), and your demo. sold me. Looking forward to working with them! Thank you!

Hi I am Detour! before I make my purchase, I was wondering if you could please answer some more questions? 🌺 1.) Did you notice a Significant color shift after they dried? (Just bought a professional brand paint- all colors did this, much to my dismay) 2.) Have you used the gesso or any mediums from Nova color? What was your experience? 3.) Have you tried mixing them? How did that turn out? Unfortunately, I can’t find pigment detail for any colors on the website, so I’m not sure how they’d mix up. There’s nothing worse than getting paint with too many fillers or pigment blends, for clean mixes. Just trying to get more insight to these products- I’d like to make one big purchase before I have to pay for shipping to NY, many times. Ugh. If you could provide any personal experience beyond what you demonstrated, I would be most grateful. Thank you in advance…😊🌺

I believe all acrylics have a slight color shift as they dry, as acrylic emulsion (medium) has a milky appearance when wet, but becomes transparent when dry.
@3243_3 жыл бұрын
As for Nova Color's quality, you need not worry. It and Golden Acrylics are by far the best quality acrylics.
@Sunflower-rx8rf3 жыл бұрын
@@3243_ I actually did make a big purchase, & I’m quite pleased with the quality! Not as much of a color shift when they dried, as the other brand I bought. Very happy about that too. Thank you for your reply…😊🌺

Thanks for the video... I bought some I don't really care for the translucency. But they do have good pigment.

Beautiful work!!! I LOVE your usage of COLORS for skin tones that are totally outside the box!! Do you offer any courses for doing this? I’m learning about layering and cool and warm tones to create movement and depth using oils. Wondering if I can do something similar with these Nova paints??

Excellent demo - thank you. Good to know it's a little on the slow-dri side. I live in a very dry climate. How would you compare it to Liquitex Basics which I find too transparent in all single pigment colours. Have hesitated ordering Nova due to the shipping to Canada but the price point is better than any of our lower cost lines. Thanks for your help and I admire your talent.

I like golden BUT it dries so fast (and as I like blending whole painting) it becomes a problem, would you say that this (as you said dries slower) will be good for blending on an outdoor mural?, also what is the falsification coverage per gallon?
@JessicaCinNY3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this demo and your thoughts. I think you said you've tried Nova Gesso and I was wondering if it has a strong odor? I'm pretty sensitive to odors and chemical and I can't use Liquitex clear or white gesso, for example. If you have any of Nova's mediums, I'd appreciate any info about their smell, too. Thanks so much!
@iamdetour3 жыл бұрын
no problem. It does not have an odor that i could smell

How long minutes wise would you say the dry time was? Did you use any retarder? Also, did the dry paint shift much from its wet form (saturation of the color)?
@iamdetour Жыл бұрын
i would say 5-15 minutes depending on the amount you load onto the canvas

if you use on fabrics, do you have to add a softener to the paints...
@iamdetour2 жыл бұрын
i think you just need to prep the fabric to receive the paint. something like a fabric primer.

Thanks! I noticed that over time when was using fluorescent in street art. The protective coating helps to stretch out the time it's bright but they always seem to fade over time. 😞 Hopefully a paint company will eventually create one that last a lot longer

These paints have certainly caught my attention, but I've been hesitant to try them since they don't list any pigment info on their jars or website. I will say you make the mistake I see a lot of other videos in thinking that opacity denotes quality. Opacity is about pigment, not how good or bad the paint is.
