Nova (VVVVVV Level) - Part 23

The last room of Area 5! This one certainly looks overwhelming but isn't as brutal as some of the other rooms in this area. The routing is the most difficult part. At first I was getting tripped up thinking I needed to move to the right when the platform finally arrives; nope, you just stay on the left and you'll land perfectly. The middle column looks scary, and while it is tough to execute, the route here is simple: Flip on the right side, move left and slip through the enemies' gap to the right, then move left again and you'll be on the platform. The last part is the easiest, just time it right and you're free from Area 5's clutches!
Not much to say here for my closing Area 5 summary, really. Of course this is the hardest one yet.
Area 1 - 186 deaths, completed in approx. 19 minutes
Area 2 - 1007 deaths, completed in approx. 92 minutes (1h32m)
Area 3 - 1556 deaths, completed in approx. 142 minutes (2h22m)
Area 4 - 519 deaths, completed in approx. 91 minutes (1h31m)
Area 5 - 4008 deaths, completed in approx. 325 minutes (5h25m)

I will write a longer comment later. For the areas onward, if you stay on a CP for more than 30 min, I suggest you compile an individual clear video of them. Unless you use editor practice, they all will likely take a while. You'll see for yourself. Good luck. I'm enjoying these

Wow, I didn't expect a comment from you here! It was your Nova videos (and to an extent, your other VVVVVV videos) that inspired me to give this map a try, so I feel honored to receive a comment from you. I still plan on recording every single attempt I make. I want to document my entire journey even if it means there are several videos where no progress is being made (as of typing this, I've made it through 6/8 trials in Area 6, and there are quite a few videos where no trinkets are collected). That being said, I do plan to compile a video of just my successful attempts of every checkpoint in the game when it's all done, as I'm sure even fellow Nova players would have little to no interest in watching a video where I die for 20-50 minutes with no payoff. I feel weird about using the editor for practice for a few reasons. - I know it's not cheating or anything like that, I just feel more comfortable doing things in a more traditional way, even if it will take longer. - The editor obviously won't add your deaths or playtime to your save file, and I wouldn't have the patience to count every single death I had in editor practice. - If I do it successfully in the editor, I'll feel a little annoyed that I only won in the editor and now I'd have to go through all of it again "for real this time". Having said all this, I'm still aware of what Nova's final checkpoint is... Maybe I'll use the editor to practice that one given its length, but only if push comes to shove.

@@Revenge319 Fair enough about your video and editor practice policy. I also enjoy not practicing, that's the way I beat Nova. I'm not too surprised to hear I inspired you, for reasons I'm sure don't need to be explained. I'm still glad though. I said I was planning on writing something longer but that might have been balooney on my part. I don't play the game as much as I used to, but I still enjoy people going for VVVVVV challenges. I'm sure you'll be able to complete this level, but as you know so well, things will only ramp up from there. That's it for me. I'll watch your progress in the background

@@balneor Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm on Gravitron 2.0 as we speak, and I can already tell that one's gonna be a long and grueling affair. (I know you can skip it but I'd really prefer not to.) I'm intentionally saving Wits for last, since that's a vastly different challenge to anything else in this map and I think it will be a lot of fun. I don't remember the solutions, the only riddles I remember are from watching Supernova's Hall of Wisdom (which if you're wondering, I am not putting myself through Supernova after this). I'm kinda excited for Area 7, I'm sure it'll be the hardest of all, but I think just being at the finale will boost my determination more than the brutal difficulty will hinder it.
