Thanks for recalling Marat Safin, Novak! I was 15 years old at that time and we had a black and white TV in Russia but I watched that match as every other match of GS circle at which Safin played. Great memories, indeed.

I doubt that its his last AO. If he's fit, I can see him continuing to dominate the world of tennis well into his 40s. But, then again, its up to Djokovic and his family to decide and not the fans.....

Djokovic is my favorite player and would love to see him win 25th GS and 100th ATP title. Having said that I think it is unrealistic given his draw. If the higher seeds all advance - he would have to beat the top 3 players in the World consecutively after playing 4 tough rounds just to get there . I have no expectations (unlike in Brisbane were I thought him winning 100th ATP title would be a given considering the field .I hope Djokovic proves me wrong

Well winning Olympics for Novak was even worth three slams because it made his resume complete becoming the only human in the planet to do so and hit Nadal's fans very bad because even that frivolous Olympics argument became a non sequitir. Now at complete peace of mind winning everything Tennis can offer, his focus is now to overtake Margaret Court, a trojan horse planted belatedly by partisan Western Media once they saw that Novak was leading the grand slam tally and couldn't digest it . When Federer led the slam tally in 2018 or Nadal in 2022, the fig leaf of Margaret Court never arose. So Novak despises even being equated with Margaret Court who won a majority of her slams in Amateur era and when Australian open was skipped by the creamy layer of players. But his challenges are mounting as he is nearing 38 in a young man's sport. Having won 12 slams past 30, he can still do it provided his desire is complemented by a dedicated process. This part time tennis tactic of Novak might not work. Last year was extraordinary with knee issues and surgery and I trust this year he gets serious participating in more hard court tournaments. Unless he goes up in ranking, his task will become even more harder with all age and physical related challenges.
@bartholomewlyons3 сағат бұрын
This is very well put. Both the Olympics and Marge Court arguments. Who tf is the woman in terms of sport of tennis, for the media to have the audacity to use that argument. True tennis fans look past that anyway. But the Olympics was really needed to shut em up. And 25 GS just sounds better than 24

Novak might be the GOAT at the moment. But Rune will surpass him in the future. My prediction is he(Rune) will have 25-30 Grand Slam trophies under his belt when he hang up his racket some day in the 2040s. Alcaraz and Sinner are also good but they don't possesses that kind of raw talent that is necessary to catch the absolut legends of the sport GS trophies wise.
