It’s hard for any player to return a wide slice serve and a flat down the T. Jokers advantage of being so limber allows him to have better reach but sometimes he contorts his body so much that he falls over a lot and looks uncoordinated. I prefer Fed’s return style of bravely stepping into the court and cutting off the wide serves. You have to great reflexes to pull that off on serves over 140 mph and thats where Fed towers over everyone.

Good point Wally. Novak has developed the body strength and flexibility to make more returns than anyone on tour. When Fed commits to hit his backhand, it's even better. However, he mixes it out well against most players.

@@TennisEvolution Pretty much, I'm a believer in fundamentals. Simple, basic, boring (but, not to me) techniques that are the building blocks of good technical form. Hearing from a former pro about his mindset about moving to the ball or staying balanced (or whatever) are gold nuggets. That what I like to see.
