Just s proves how weak of a current era it has been since 2020. No Nadal and Federer. Novak beat up and cashed in on the young, inexperienced, can't handle the big stage mentally players. There's no way he wins all 8 majors in the past 4 seasons if the other 2 GOATs were active and 100% healthy.

Djokovic is a master. I thought it would be a tall order for Sinner to beat him twice within days and felt it gave Djokovic a mental advantage going into the final. I would have a hard time myself having to go repeat so quickly against a player I’d never beaten before, let alone the absolute top dog of the year, the era and very arguably the GOAT. It is simply amazing that Djokovic is single-handedly holding back the best crop of contenders that I’ve seen in years. These young guys have the talent, belief and determination not seen in recent next gen contenders too. They’re worthy, but Djokovic at 36 is just unbelievable.

If you watched both of these matches, they both have a score line so typical of tennis that didn't indicate the level of game play. The match against Carlos had insane quality hitting and rallies. I'm a Novak fan, but I didn't think this was possible. Even for him. He looks stronger and quicker at 36 than he was at 26. Smarter too. More complete of a tennis player - skills, tactics, and mental toughness wise. If I didn't witness it I'd think it's not possible. He looks like he OWNS tennis today. It's so strange. Like he just keeps getting better, smarter, tougher, stronger. Sinner, Rune, Alcaraz, Medvedev, etc are excellent, amazing players. Just superb. With great future in tennis. In any other time - they'd be sharing titles between themselves tourney after tourney. But that'll have to wait until GOAT retires. And he certainly doesn't look like he's retiring soon. We're witnessing an absolute greatness in real-time. Incredible.

@@jacobschmidt2709 It's not as straight-forward as it seems. Just ask yourself, how often is Novak "on the wrong leg" or "late" when responding to attack? It's very rare. Then, ask yourself "how is it that Novak is hitting on avg 10-15% harder FH than any of his opponents?". Quick to think, quick to anticipate, quick to get there. And then, unleash. One HAS TO BE THERE in time, and then some, to do that. His pure athletic abilities might have dropped down by 3-5% from his peak - but his mind, knowledge, experience, mental toughness and quick decision making grew up by 30% plus. Not to mention skills completeness.

As predicted yesterday, Djokovic just let Sinner win earlier this week, and shifted gears today. If he continues to play this good for 2 more years, he will set records that will probably never be broken in his lifetime. Athlete of the century, feeling privileged to witness this from the beginning. Btw I'm sure he has made the total tournament win record (109) held by Connors his next goal. I wouldn't mind seeing him add a number of 250 titles at the end of his career just to break that one, he fully deserves it. The record of Connors consisted mostly of smaller titles, but numbers are numbers. Go Novak!

We are all so fortunate to live in a time where we have witnessed the greatness of Novak, Roger, and. Nole's performance today was nothing short of incredible. You have to feel for Sinner who played some of his best tennis the last few months; Nole simply way too good last few matches. What a 2023 season. WOW 😊

Folks saying, Sinner choked in the 2nd set. Yes, he did. Why? The sheer pressure the Djoker put on Jannik in the 1st set, caused him to capitulate. Tennis is 100 percent mental, and Djokovic is the mastermind.

I dislike him personally (not that I know the guy but you know what I mean), and will always love watching Roger more (and in some ways will always believe he is the true GOAT), but... even I have to admit that the argument that Feds is the GOAT is on very shaky legs given what Novak is still doing these days. Truly remarkable.

He broke and created records during the absence of Federer. Where as Federer set the records while Novak and Nadal were in their prime. A big difference. Compare their stats when both were healthy and participating in most majors together (2005-2019) and you'll see they are pretty much equal..for ex. majors 16 each. AO wins 7-5 for Novak, Wimbledon 6-5 Fed, US Open 4-3 Fed, French 1-1 ATP finals 5-4 Fed and h2h in all matches 26-23 Novak. So you Novak fans and media stop bragging about how dominant Novak's numbers are over Federer. You need to compare apples with apples. If Fed was 100% healthy and playing these past 4 years with the absence of Nadal and Novak, he too would of won back to back ATP Finals and 8 majors. Novak said today that this year was one, if not his most successful year in his entire career. Well of course...no Nadal of Fed this entire 2023 season!!! And fact the media has gotten wrong. Novak has won 6 not 7 ATP's. One of his 7 was a walkover in the finals with his opponent not showing up because of injury. The match wasn't played so technically he didn't win that match but instead given to him.

In terms of Novaks greatest seasons, it goes: 1. 2015 2. 2011 3. 2023 4. 2021 Novaks 2015 season was statistically the greatest season in tennis history. The Serb won 3 slams, made all 4 slam finals(losing the FO final to Stan Wawrinka), won 6 master 1000s, made 8 master 1000 finals, won the YEC, reached 15 consecutive finals and was number 1 the entire year. Moreover, he accumulated the highest point total in a season in ATP history. 2011 was pretty impressive in its own right. 3 grand slam victories, a FO semi, 5 master 1000 titles, 43 match winning streak, and 10-1 vs Fedal were the major highlights. If not for Djokovic petering out after the USO and having a lackluster Asian and indoor swing, this would have taken the top spot. 2023 was not only impressive because of the 3 slams, 4 slam finals, 2 masters and YEC. It was a marvel how Novak did this at 36 years old and overcame young and hungry great talents almost half of his age. Had Djokovic won the Wimbledon final, 2023 would be a strong contender for best season. 2021 is very similar to the 2023 season. Novak won 3 slams and made the final of the other(flip Wimby with the USO). He also won the Paris Masters. Djokovic arguably beat better players to win his slams(peak Zverev and Medvedev to win the AO, Nadal + peak Tsitsipas to win the FO and peak Zverev to reach the USO finals). Where 2021 falls short to the current year is one less master 1000 and semifinal showing at the YEC. Novaks "what if" seasons: 2020- What started out as a great year winning the ATP Cup, AO and Dubai became a nightmarish one. Covid took the world by storm and the tour was momentarily halted. Wimbledon 2020(where Djokovic would have been the heavy favorite) was cancelled. What made matters worse was the default at the USO. Nadal did not enter due to covid and Djokovic was the heavy favorite. Djokovic won masters at Cincinnati and Rome and would go on to lose to an unplayable Nadal in the FO. Had covid not interferred, we'd likely be looking at another 3 slam year for Novak. 2022- Considered as one of the most controversial seasons in the history of tennis, a healthy and fit Djokovic was deported from the Australian Open. The Serb was the 3 time defending champion at the time. To add injury to insult, Novak was unable to compete in the USO that year due to covid travel mandates. Considering Medvedev was below par and Nadal knocked out early at the USO, this very well may have been another 3 slam year for Djokovic.

@@alfonsonapoletano4522Sinner never made 40 unforced errors. First errors are purely subjective. It can be either forced or unforced. It is very difficult to judge which one is forced or unforced sitting outside the court. Novak was playing really insane for over one and half sets. He could have really beaten anybody with such monstrous show. The faces of Sinner's camp itself was revealing during the match and they looked hopeless. It is only 4-2 in the second set, his level dropped.
