It felt like less than 60fps because the frame times were all over the place. You can see it with the green line on the top bar. Digital foundry found this with even native FSR3 implementations

I can see with my own eyeballs that latency is NASTY. You push the stick and half a second later your view moves..... That's no bueno...

I tried this mod on my Steam Deck OLED and can confirm what the author said. It’s a cool experience to try out, but in the end, I turned off frame generation, switched back to the standard preset for the Steam Deck, and locked the framerate at 40. From there, you’ve got two options: either put up with some drops or lower a few settings from the standard preset so the dips aren’t as bad. After all, the Steam Deck is a mobile device, and you can’t expect it to perform like a high-end PC or a full-sized console. Enjoy the portability because, at the end of the day, the best FPS on a plane goes to whoever’s got a Steam Deck 😅

This is great. It has some downsides. Input lag is still the same, since the middle frame didn't get any new inputs. And if you are over 30 fps normally and under 60 fps in this, I'd probably use the over 30 fps, since you have more input lag than before.

i know input lag is a issue but i didn't really experience this on my run but did notice it didn't quite feel like the FPS posted 60 fps didn't really feel like 60fps

I think in some games it wont matter... for instance a game like Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck would greatly benefit from frame generation since the slow, methodical nature of the game means that input lag wouldn't really be noticeable, whereas playing without it and dropping down the 17 fps in some areas is VERY noticeable. Just my two cents.....

for me the Witcher 3 is perfect with DLSS and FSR3 frame gen, I get about 90-100 fps with my 4070 super using both. If I do not use FSR3 and DLSS I get about 40-70 fps, yes I love RT and I want it to be maxed, and the 4070S is not fast enough without DLSS and some kind of framegen, but I get very little lag and no stuttering.

I like playing demanding games locked at 40fps/hz on the deck. could this be used to get a stable 40fps for the games let's say, drops to 30s occasionally like CP2077? could you maybe try that?

@@socinety around two times more since 2 frames are needed to generate a frame between them, and it depends ig, maybe for slow paced games it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but in something like cyberpunk it wouldn't feel good at such low framerate. Gotta keep in mind that frame gen doesn't increase the actual performance, it just increases the smoothness of "video output"

Would work, but feel worse. Frame Generation needs a consistent baseline of at least 45FPS. Everything below that results in inevitable, terrible input latency.

Framegen only good when you have more than 60fps base frame, like from 90fps increase to 165fps is very good

I find FSR3 is very good when using an FPS cap in Cyberpunk (set in the video settings of the game). I have the FPS cap at 30 fps, but frame gen then will generate up to 60. If you get a locked 30 fps cap, it feels great, and you see a locked 60 fps. Also saves power.

Bro, you are getting 20 fps, the ghosting is faint. I think the biggest drawback is frame times, it will get better, but you cannot create something out of nothing, just approximate as close as possible.

This is really cool, I'll have to try it. I see some people saying it will suck because of the ghosting and input lag. While I do agree there, especially that the input lag will remain like 30, I still see this as beneficial in some cases. It might be better than raw 30 fps for some people. Plus I could see this being great when you have more frames but want to go over say 90hz with say the new OLED Deck. Very cool

FSR Frame generation alone does not double fps..... you are using super resolution upscalling nd frame generation at same time

With FSR3 frame gen my 4070 super becomes the graphics card i thought It was supposed to be. Witcher 3 1440p RT on and everything on ultra 80-90 fps with frame gen, cyberpunk the same about 70-90 fps with RT on max 1440p DLSS quality ( cant use DLSS frame gen on linux) So yeah with this mod my new GPU became what I thought it would be.

i believe it's using dlss frame generation as a placeholder for fsr 3.0 since acutal FG for nvidia requires special hardware we don't have, i'm assuming his DLLS uses this just to active the option

When having installed FSR 3 it much be turned on in game. That's done by turning on DLSS. Then the game will use FSR. Yes, counterintuitive, but that's how it's done.

This isn't a game changer, it causes a lot of blur, tearing, false sensation of 60fps, is much better 30 true FPS than 60 fake fps. This is the true i've try it about 2 weeks.

As of right now, Baldur's Gate 3 does not support framegen. However, FSR2FSR3 is possible, with barely noticeable improvements.
