Been coming back to this one for a few years now; the thing is just so damn 'gritty' and the distortion towards the end drives me crazy. I've actually got a playlist on my music player and I've named it 'Gritty Modular', this was one of the first tracks to go on there. I love the way it starts off, with those clean chords and the ?5ths in the bass (the way it vibrates in the bass made me think it's 5ths); it feels like the end of a long journey, but where you're right at the start of a new beginning, a new life... that's how it feels to me... love it; that dramatic ending!

It's actually hybrid - DCO controlled oscillators. Although as the FPGA that generates them runs at 23MHz, for human hearing purposes it IS analogue, as no one can hear aliasing at that frequency. Even the armchair purists whose blood pressure is probably rocketing right now as they read this. But they'll claim they can tell the difference anyway as they are "special", even though in a blind test the results are already in: They Can't. :-)

Great demo! This is competitively priced with a big feature set. I'm not crazy about the distortion circuit here, but the clean sounds are great on this. I imagine it could be well warmed up by Elektron Analog Heat if you really wanted saturation or distortion.

This isn't the best example here...I may have pushed the gain a little much...there's 4 or 5 ways to overdrive the synth before you even get to the distortion unit. These are the first days, hope to tame it soon.

i love the peak. it's simple, yet deep. i dig it because it can get me the sounds i want, but there's enough in there to experiment with and take you to new places. the only thing i'd say is you need a good sequencer or keyboard to go with it and to get the most out of it.

r beny The Electribe 2 has 5-pin midi? I suppose I should ask, are you controlling the Peak directly with the Electribe 2, or are you going through a DAW? I bought a Peak, and I bought an Arturia Beatstep MKII (I think that's the model), and was disappointed to find that the MKII has no 5-pin midi. This means that I can't just plug it into the Peak and start playing, I need an intermediary device. Quite annoying. :D

congrats! sadly this patch is lost to the sands of time. to recreate it, use any of the wavetable oscillators (I like wind, might have been used here) and set up noise to modulate the oscillator and the filter in the mod matrix. everything else can be adjusted to taste
