I don't know why you guys are so triggered by the comparisons, it's an honour to be compared to succesful bands, I bet Camille will love to hear she is compared to Hayley or Courtney. I feel this band will do big things next year, they are creating such cool sounds, crossing some lines, love them

The clean vocals are so Paramore, in the best way. The instrumentals kinda give Spiritbox but remind me of something else more and I can't figure out who haha Edit: I think it's Aviations the instrumentals remind me of.

I'll have to give more of their stuff a listen, thanks. KZbin has been recommending Novelists to me the last couple of weeks, and I've been ignoring it because I'd never heard of them. Maybe I should trust the algorithm more, as the same happened with Jinjer back in 2019, and I don't think a band ever went from 'never heard of' to one of my favourites so fast.

Sounds like this one is pretty divisive. I like it a lot though. And I definitely hear the Spiritbox similarities, especially the screams being pretty Courtney-esque.

I personally don't think it's like Spritbox at all -- sounds like Novelists to me. Just because they are both females in similar genres doesn't automatically make it that way. Just my opinion.

I get where you coming from because seing Spiritbox being thrown into the every random heavier music comparison just like Paramore in is in rock gets old very fast. However, in this case the comparison is fair, I think, because it's not like he compared their voicals or anything. In this particular song the pop elements are clear as the day and Spiritbox is literally known for their pop influences. Visually, to me a lot of style choices seems to be inspired by Lady Gaga from Poker Face/Just Dance era which is very cool because it really fit the catchy dancy vibes of the song and finally the elitism and gatekeeping seems to be more or less over and bands are not as afraid to pay tribute/borrow things from pop music openly without being attacked by their angry fans or being called cringe. A lot of cool stuff born from the fusion and combined different elements from multiple genres.

I feel that they get compared to Spiritbox mainly because both are female fronted but Novelists are way more varied and talented instrumentally
