So your electricity bill for the month (all at peak rate) would have been c. £490 meaning you saved c.£300 on electricity plus c. £113 on gas. That's a pretty significant contribution against the cost of the batteries. This is a very useful update, thanks. Do you mind if I share the info and a link to your video?

Yeah if I bought all the energy at peak and didn't have solar that sounds about right, and if I wanted to add in the saving of charging my car vs petrol, etc the savings are even bigger, but I try to keep things as basic as possible for people to compare to their situation. Hi, interesting video, thanks. We have a similar GivEnergy based system to you and are also all electric. ( had the gas disconnected so no standing charge) Been thinking about adding to our 2 x 9.5 kWh batteries too but assumed I would have to update the inverter from the current 3 to 5 kW otherwise might not be able to fill the batteries during the cheap rate window….would welcome your thoughts. Also assume ( depending on DNO in your area) that an increase in inverter power requires a re approval of the G99 ?

You are correct, if you want to increase your inverter to a more powerful one it would required DNO submission. Similar to you, even though I have the 5kW inverter, I wouldnt be able to fully fill 3 x 9.5kWh currently as even though its 5kW it only charges and discharges at 3.6kWh. So in the 6 hour window I have, I can only charge 21.6 kWh, but also gives me more options when its sunny. Also I am semi hopeful one day GivEnergy increase in the software what can be done for charge / discharge.

@SpectrumGeeks seem relatively new. For my situation, the low standing charge 43p and 5p off peak rates midnight to 6am is saving me over winter
