This is how it SHOULD be played..
Edit after a year or so:
Haha, wow guys. I find it really ironic, that I only uploaded this video, to show someone up... Now that I've grown up a bit in music, I dont "regret" the decision, but I recognize it was very foolish of me.
I personally do now know where the recording is from, or who did it. Most likely, its a recording from a "clinic" band.
A Clinic being, they invite lots of good bands from around the nations, and people listen/learn. An all day/all weekend type thing. Lots of fun.
This also could've been done by the North Texas Wind Symphony.
They have an album, with lots of songs, that band directors play to their band to give the kids an idea of how the song sounds.
Enjoy!
EDIT: Wow, 10,000 views... How crazy is that? I posted this video what, three years ago, and its finally hit 10,000 views...
We played this song in middle school, 8th grade, and it was due to this song that I am still in Band today. Truly, the experience that I got playing this song was nothing that I can describe, and something that I will never forget.
If you're in middle school, and you can't decide to try high-school band or not, let this be your decision maker. Music is one of the few things in life that will really matter... Why?
Because the people you meet, and the experiences you have, when it comes to music, is something that nothing else will ever give you.
Thanks a ton KZbin. Its been a good 10,000 views.
-----
MY MOST VIEWED VIDEO. And it only came from me wanting to show-up another persons recording. To all of you who've viewed this from me, know this:
Novo Lenio was the song that originally inspired me to stay in band through high school. And then from high school I was inspired to try out for college.
And then I made it into the University of Florida on a Saxophone Performance scholarship. I made it into the Jazz Band my freshman semester.
To those of you who read this now: YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! Dream big. Inspire others. Share your passion. I believe in you.
Check out some of my other videos. I'm really starting to play more sax and there will be more to come.
thanks
---
I'll just keep updating. Beautiful full circles of time are in this video and this music.
I'm now about 1/2 way through my Music Education major and I'm planning on being a music teacher. I've started my own streaming channel here on KZbin/Twitch/Facebook and I'll be doing livestreams of Jazz and other music as well.
Thanks for all the support. Enjoy.
--
Time for another update; Hope all of you have been well through the years! To those of you just starting your musical journeys, keep at it! To those of you who have been journeying for years, let us be thankful we can continue on. To those who can no longer be with us now, thank you for paving the way to the coolest collection of sounds any human could ever hear.
I'm teaching music lessons! If you ever need help with saxophone, piano, flute, clarinet, or the like, please reach out at Marty@Martyglover.com and I'd be more than happy to discuss virtual lessons or more!
I'm creating all sorts of cool new art and music here lately. Definitely check out my channel and keep tuned for more updates these days. I'll be trying out a whole new genre here with live streams, NFTs, and the like!
Enjoy the video and thanks for sticking around! 3/21/2021

Everybody talks about the brass and the percussion on this piece, but nobody acknowledges that the clarinets drive the middle section and add the lilting, nostalgic tone to the beginning and the end :) Man, what an awesome piece. I'm glad I played this in high school.

Just played this at a concert 2 days ago. This music really changed my life and rekindled my interest in Music after it started to dwindle, and has helped me remember old times spent with my Stepfather before he died when his cottage exploded.

I just came up with a new game. Play along with the recording and for the first 49 measures, you are NOT allowed to play the notes you have written. You have to come up with a pretty harmony on the spot. It's concert Bb so if you have never tried this game, this is like level 1. from measure 49 to 132 is like level 2. If you want level 3 find something in a different key that you are less familiar with.
