Now Canberra is in chaos! Storms and golf ball sized hail bombard Australia
Heavy hail hit Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Golf ball-sized hail fell almost across Canberra, stretching across Tuggeranong, Weston, Lyon, Harrison, Fyshwick, Conder and several other areas.
A gust of 93km/h was recorded at Singleton at 2.41pm. The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning earlier this morning of "large hail and heavy rain which could cause flash flooding" and advised people to move their cars under cover to avoid damage and to stay indoors.

This video doe not show what we got in the north of Canberra. It looked like it had snowed and the left over hail was about a foot deep. And yes in Gungahlin we had hail stones that could have hospitalised people if not killed them. I'm surprised my neighbours solar panels weren't shattered.

It's just a hailstorm. Lots of places get hail that size. Cars get damaged, but it's over in a short time and generally only the wildlife suffers if they have not enough shelter.
