@@spacezombie13 It ties into the idea that free will isn't just "doing whatever you want". It's about having choices you can freely decide upon, but those choices are determined not just by what you *want* to do, but what you *know.* When your information is incomplete, that removes choices and takes away some of your free will. In Lucifer's case, he's definitely the type who would want to help everyone (Charlie clearly gets that from him) -- after all, he married Lilith when heaven rejected her, and he gave Eve and the humans free will when heaven said no. But because he doesn't have all the information -- because he only sees the evil in humanity -- he doesn't *know* they're worth saving. He doesn't know there are better choices, which means his own will is less free. Hiding information from people takes away their freedom. I think we all understand that politically (like with propaganda and cover-ups), but it's true in every other aspect of life as well.

Even if he's only surrounded by the bad examples of humanity, he still undeniably knows that human souls keep ascending to Heaven. It is proof that humans are capable of doing good, but choose not to, and when they go down to Hell, they become even worse because there's nothing holding them back anymore. So from Lucifer's POV, Sinners are basically a lost cause that don't deserve his daughter's compassion. And to be perfectly honest, that's one of the things that does hold us back. We never learn from our own history and keep repeating it with a modern coat of paint.

Though Lilith didn't take Charlie away. I think she - Lilith - might be the link to both Charlie and Lucifer. But when she vanished that link wasn't there and now you see the outcome of that.. Charlie even says she wanted her dad in her life and waited for him to call. And he did, though not to see her, and that's why when Charlie stopped trying because she doesn't know to help Lucifer with his depression. And he obviously has it since Lilith vanished. Or maybe because of her. The only thing that seperated Charlie with her dad is depression. Might be Lilith fault because break-ups aren't easy.. her leaving him and then disappear was definite the breaking point for Lucifer 😢

I believe there's a little more to that. Lilith was probably putting young Charlie to bed in that scene. Let's not forget, this is Lucifer. THE big boss of hell. He's probably a busy man and doesn't get to spend much time with Charlie. Lilith could actually be what kept their little family together. It fell apart when she left.

Lucifer was already depressed due to being banished to hell, and his disappointment grew when he saw that his dream of giving free will to humans didn't turn out as he hoped, as told in Chapter 1. In fact, I personally believe that Lilith left Lucifer because of his depression and because he despises sinners unlike her.

That's exactly what it is. Look at how Alastor behave when we first met him in the pilot. He was a big, flamboyant presence that took up all the space in the room with his personality and implied threats. But the problem is, with Lucifer in the room, Alastor becomes a nobody. He can't intimidate him, he can't charm him, he can't impress him. And that makes Alastor feel small in comparison.

I don't feel like he even cares if Lucifer is more powerful than him. Alastor definitely still has some pretty shady shit going on, but I think he's genuinely at least a little attached to the Hotel, or even just Charlie's goal for redemption. He didn't have to keep up a front with Mimzy, but he still chose to tell her she needed to leave, and he even offered her a place at the hotel if she genuinely wanted to seek redemption. Honestly, it kinda makes me wish this series was 12 eps, with a couple here or there to just be some episodic story to show the characters' growth between main story beats.

The few episodes of Helluva Boss that you've seen are more "I.M.P. mission of the week" that the original Pilot was built around but from Episode 5&6 and onward it becomes far more story driven and about the interpersonal relationships between characters, their backstories, and how much an emotional train wreck Blitzø is behind closed doors. As of right now Hazbin Hotel is the "lighter" show in plot (since it is just getting started) since it only focuses on the "Pride Ring" of Hell that Lucifer directly rules and where the Sinners (Human Souls) dwell and its relationship with Heaven. Helluva Boss on the other hand is more "epic" in scale, focusing on the native non-human demons such at the Imps, Hell Hounds, Succubi, Ars Goetia, and the personifications of the other Seven Deadly Sins besides Lucifer that rule the other Six Rings of Hell. I suspect the reason for this is because "flagship" series Hazbin Hotel was picked up by A24, series creator Vivienne Medrano has less direct control over it. Since its took so many years for Hazbin Hotel to come out as a proper series with multiple episodes, Vivienne retooled the "spinoff" Helluva Boss to be her primary outlet for developing the lore and cosmology of Hell without the strings attached that Hazbin Hotel now has. In effect Helluva Boss has become the "main" series and "passion project" between the two and at this point features better animation (such as the "Look My Way" music video) because the animation team can be more experimental.

Little bit of funny history - Jeremy Jordan was actually cast to sing in “The Greatest Showman” with Hugh Jackman, but was later replaced by Zac Efron. In a behind-the-scenes while practicing and rehearsing “This is Me” with Keala Settle, you can actually see Jeremy Jordan sitting with the other main cast members, watching the rehearsal. I don’t know if it was intentional to hire Jeremy Jordan and Lucifer is like the ring master of a circus as the King of Hell, but it’s fun to think of.

Since I'm sure nobody was curious, the tune that Lucifer had as his ringtone for Charlie is called "Thunder and Blazes" -- a screamer march adaptation of Julius Fučík's "Entrance of the Gladiators" that's been heavily used by circuses since the early 1900s. It really fits the ringmaster vibe he's got going on, doesn't it? (Most people likely know the tune, but it's been a short list of people I've met who know what it's _called._ Most of the time I've heard it guessed as "Send in the Clowns", but that's a different tune entirely.)

y know... in the song with Lucifer, Alastor talks about making Charlie laugh with old timey puns... can anyone remember any old timey puns he makes durignt he show?It just feels like more "did we tell you that he's old timey already? Because we don't have the time to show you!" And how he acted when dealing with the attackers... it felt kind off... uncharacteristically large ham, especially the announcement about "messing with the radio demon! I will eat you all!" Usually, while hammy, he's more of cold ham... it just feels off.

The old timey puns is something that the original VA from the pilot started. They use to do live streams where the VA's acted as their characters in order to raise money for the show. Alastor's VA did a lot of dad jokes and bad puns, just search Alastor dad jokes and you can find a few animatics made from the audio clips from those streams. If you're a fan of bad/cheesy jokes they're pretty good, especially sense Angel Dust's VA constantly heckles him

For me, ti feels like something that Alastor was supposed to do, maybe to reference the fact that he died int he early thirties, but due to time constraints or wathever just never got to the screen.

As far as how Alastor handled the attackers, I honestly didn't find it very out of character. His persona is usually more laid back, with a "don't mess with me or else" sort of energy, but keep in mind he has been gone for 7 years. Not everyone knows who he is anymore, and his reputation has still taken a hit in the eyes of those that do. This sort of dramatic display is exactly the type of thing Alastor was known for, and people just needed a reminder of what he's capable of. He's not all talk, but people unfamiliar with who he is might think so, so in my opinion it makes perfect sense for him to pull this sort of thing to put people back in their place. It's not something he does often, but it was definitely necessary to prove he won't shy away from literally ripping apart anyone who challenges him.

Ngl I felt the same way when he morphed into a more monstrous form to defend the hotel. It did feel off and weak tbh, if the music had changed to some sort of "final boss" theme made specifically for Alastor it would've been cooler or even a simple slowed electroswing-esque soundtrack it would've at least not made it seem soo bland. Even the voice lines were delivered kinda of cheap, didn't help they weren't even that good as far as word choice goes either. I thought they'd go with something along the lines of "you'd be wise to start running", "prepare to be history", or even "step into my parlor said the spider to the fly" But all delivered with a deep gutteral serious voice with a radiostatic effect

I feel like Alastor's manipulativeness reaches its peak in this episode. He's not being petty or competitive with Lucifer for fun or to show off his self confidence, he's literally pushing on his insecurities toward Charlie the whole time, in order to get the devil to do exactly what they need for the Hotel. "I've already done so much for your daughter, let me see you do any better". This push + Charlie's affective pull and Lucifer was basically done for the moment he stepped in.

Nice reaction, enjoyed it. I think Jeremy Jordan, the VA for Lucifer, is the most famous singer among all the cast in terms of Broadway work. But yeah, fitting and really powerful in both songs. My only complaint about More Than Anything, somehow when Charlie and Lucifer sing together, I don’t think it quite harmonizes with each other. It feels like when their voices are fighting each other instead of singing with each other. Maybe it’s just my ears, does anyone hear this? It isn’t that obvious so the duet still sounds great yo me, but something just jars me when they both sing

Satan (who no one has met yet is said to be the strong man) so on. So both he and Charlie have BIG circus energy in their ringtones for one another in their phones, how they decorate where they live. Lucifer is dissapointe and dissillusioned and he is projecting that on to CHarlie. And it makes her ANGRY, you can see her eye twitching during the seige as he is like " It doesn't matter how well intentioned you are." He is done giving sinners chances and he doesn't want Charlie to either. But he is also shitting on her idea and her friends while he is trying to reason with her. Showing a total lack of faith in sinners is showing a total lack of faith in Charlie and he just doesn't see that, until she spells it out for him.

You would probably really like Caleb Hyles cover versions of some of HH songs.....he does metal covers of Hazbin Hotel (the title track),Poison,and Just Look My Way. Poison is one of Angels songs and Just Look My Way is a Stolas song.also Paranoid DJ dose some wickedly awesome covers as well...like Use Me Up ( another Angel tune) and Smile Like You Mean It which is one of Alistor the radio demons songs that's super catchy.I'd love to watch you react to a few of those covers because I feel like they are more your jam.Lol.they are songs from the original show.thanks for always being so open to new music and all your positivity!!🎶❤✌
