The R&D process is where my relationship with a new product develops. Prior to having a prototype I only have expectations based on what product was specifically designed to do. When you finally get the first prototype you can start experimenting in hopes to discover unintended versatility and usefulness. Now that I have the BOX-POT in hand and can physically experiment with it's form and function, I've got to say, (more-so than most products) the BOX-POT is the gift that keeps on giving! Its unique character keeps expressing itself in many different ways, as I use it. This BOX-POT is a heck of a cutie! Everything I try seems to work. I love the versatility its size and shape offers!
This little 1quart, 4 inch square pot, combined with a well seasoned stone can cook most anything!
1- Baking (biscuits, rolls, even cake!)
2- Rice Cooker (the cooking stone prevents burning. Makes perfect rice!)
3- Pan fry (the square shape & low profile makes it work)
4- Boil (better than a round pot with pour spout corners & venting lid)
5- Light-Weight & Compact. The bulk to versatility ratio with BOX-POT is off the charts! You can do so much more than with a typical pot (with similar capacity) yet its square shape fits better in your pack.
You can do so much more with BOX-POT while remaining light and fast. I love it for Moto-Camping but I can think of several activities where taking a minimal amount of gear is important. With BOX-POT you don't have to compromise any of the cooking fun while still keeping the gear you're packing at a minimum.
If you like eating real food rather than "freeze dried" but need to keep your gear at a minimum you'll love BOX-POT! This little guy takes up about the same space as a camping mug but cooks all kinds of food amazingly well!
So far, I've made:
Bacon & Eggs with Sausage. The square shape and low profile makes pan frying totally doable! Definitely delicious!
Biscuits and Gravy. I baked the biscuits using the cooking stone, then cooked sausage and made milk gravy from scratch! Everything cooked in the BOX-POT. Too good to be true!
Ramen. I know, not very challenging but the BOX POT is the perfect size and shape for cooking the Ramen noodle block without needing to break it up. Bonus points!
Cake. Believe it or not, you can bake a cake to perfection using the box pot with the cooking stone as thermal mass in the bottom. Delectable!

Wow, so many boxes checked for that pot. As usual, immaculate attention to detail maximizing versatility and compatibility. I like how well it pours from the corners. Pouring from round pots/cups sux, lol. The lid and it's locking handle are a nice touch. I bet you could make some good cornbread with the nano gas grill, maybe even a frittata/quiche.

I told myself no more pot, but if you make this in titanium, I'll buy it. I like the easy pour aspect. If my ti coffee cup fits in the scout with my pour over and trangia then It'll be my new daily driver for on-site coffee and meat snacks. Only reason Im such a fan of titanium, other than it supposedly being healthier, is that you can throw it in the fire to cook off the mess that cant be scrubbed out. Great looking product as usual Steve. I think Im most excited for that new cast Iron set. I have a feeling I'll eventually own everything you put out.

What a great career. Run a company, and spend a ton of time playing with new stuff. I absolutely love the 5” and the nano. I talk so highly of them that I’ve probably made you thousands in sales. However, I’m not sold on this idea yet. Square pots or containers have some advantages, but are a pain in the butt to clean, and other than the convenience of not needing fire sticks to fit all your stoves, I didn’t see anything a round pot couldn’t do. And you have some really well made round pots already.

I'm not sure how I got into the habit of coating and "treating" all my cookware- cast iron, aluminum even stainless steel, with either flaxseed, olive or vegetable oil, but I do, and have had success in the aftereffects such as easier cleanup compared to untreated cookware. As far as "treating" stainless steel/box pot (because any treatment of ss just gets cooked or washed away), try heating the pan to where it's just barely too hot to touch, add a small amount of vegetable oil, wipe lightly with a cloth or sturdy paper towel (I use the blue Scott Shop towels and never an issue with fibers coming loose), and it'll cook nicely with minimal sticking. 🍳

As an engineer, you cant beat the "System" approach. Now... Materials? Bare aluminum is no good for cooking, you can get aluminum poisoning, (much harder to get rid of) particularly with acid foods, like tomatoes, which will pit the aluminum, and you eat... A good hard anodize will help. Some stainless steels are bad too, I dont remember which are safe, you need to look into it. Titanium? Poor thermal conductor - hot spots... Perhaps a thermal spreader plate attached to the bottom? Some SS cookware has either a copper or aluminum plate on the bottom. Good start! Jerry

What an awesome piece of kit! As I age, minimalist is what I need if I am going to carry it on my back. Even car camping, heavy totes full of gear are no fun to lug either. Great idea! My only issue would be that with the Scout stove going inside the pot, you'd have to clean the stove REALLY thoroughly before packing up - especially if using wood - or wash the pan again when you set up. I'd actually prefer a smaller pot that slips into the stove, so the dirty surfaces are against each other and the inside of the pot stays clean. With the square design, if you rotate the pot 45 degrees it should still sit on top of the stove comfortably.
