For viewers who were wondering about the planned rolling electricity outages that Michael mentioned at @ 3:40: the start of the rainy season came late this year, resulting in lowered water stores. That in turn impacted Costa Rica's ability to produce its hydroelectric power. The government announced a week of rotating 3-hour electrical outages that would impact the entire country. I live the in the Central Valley and we had a ton of rain just before this was to happen - and here the shut-offs didn't happen at all. In Heredia Province, we do have occasional periods of no water or no electricity - usually due to some sort of city, utility or condo repair work. For water, it's typically a couple of hours in the morning and for the electricity it is normally 10 - 15 minutes. Depending on the location in CR - YMMV.

I hope it is since I’m separated from my wife since she’s not interested in living in Costa Rica. I do have a lawyer lined up for citizenship, but will wait to see if this will work for me. Good luck Lisa with your plans and if your Air b&b if is close to Tambor beach maybe I’ll message you. Thanks again Mike for always giving us great videos on Costa Rica.

I just purchase a new truck in Escazu and was a little unsure at first. Santa Ana is not my scene I need to find a place like she found but im also alone so it's intimidating. Although financially secure would like to find a work trade for space to keep active. GREAT Interviewing SKILLS Mike!

Please listen to Lisa. It really is a necessity for you to do your research. If you come with a partner, they need to be FULLY onboard. Take the time to find your “place” - land, house, local amenities. If you can do it, find a place where you don’t NEED a car. You have to be able to chill here, because things will go wrong, will take a LOT longer to do, and can be more expensive than you expect. However, it is a really lovely place to live, with great people. I too have been here 3 1/2 years, also having moved from Canada, and have no plans to move on.
