Yes that's what tore it up, when placed to the in position both rear axles are driving for off road use only at slow speeds, that is a no no on hard ground at faster speeds, when placed in the out position, only the rear axle drives for road gear.

Normal highway driving is the OUT position. The IN position is for when you need more traction.Highway driving on pavement with lock IN is not good especially at higher speed and , never want to switch it while moving. Great videos. Just subcribed.

She's doing great! Awe, poor lil bat.. we have the tiny brown bats here and I love them. We have a pool and when the lights are on at night they'll fly around your head and then skim the top of the water for bugs. I've had to save a baby before that didn't quite know how to skim.. it went for a dunk and couldn't get out. No we don't touch them and no they don't go after a big human, they eat all the mosquitoes they can handle, which is a blessing! I love watching your all American boys! They are some tough kidos for sure. Y'all take care, God Bless 🙏🏼 ❤️

Divider lock should be disengaged anytime the vehicle is over 15 MPH. Should only be engaged on surfaces that would allow spinning of the tires but not while the wheels are spinning. The vehicle should also be moving in a straight line with matching tires between the front and rear differentials. There is also such a thing as an axle to differential lock on some truck tractors that with differential lock engaged you also lock a four axles to the differential. The divider normally in the front drive axle and allows for separate operation of multiple drive axles because when turning the all the wheels rotate at different speeds. Divider being locked in does not allow the front and rear axle wheels to spin independently. Manufactures use differential lock, axle lock and divider lock nomenclature incorrectly sometimes. Most multiple drive axle trucks have actually a divider lock but some also have an axle to differential lock which would be a separate switch and should be engaged in conjunction with the divider lock to increase traction to pull out of slippery surfaces. Axle to differential locks normally are on off road trucks and have not been used on over the road trucks for decades. Divider lock being engaged on dry pavement likely attributed to the rear drive shaft failure. Hopefully this helps. Sure enjoy watching everyone on Anchor Brand Ranch.

To me that plate there could around the wrong way . So when your free of a bog ,switch to "Off" . Good rule is never be in "ON " position at high

This video brings back some of my best memories: my dad patiently teaching me to drive the old trucks, which were his favorites. I love the older ones. He loved and got a kick out of teaching us to drive these. His favorites were the old Generals. My mom hated them bus they were an eyesore 😂. Grew up in Idaho, on the Oregon border. Looks a lot like the Nevada terrain. Thank you for sharing these videos. These are the best, most important times in life: making memories with our kids❤. My dad was a redhead, as are many in our family. He passed in 2005, but left so much knowledge and skill that he taught us, which is being passed down through the generations. PRICELESS …. 🙏♥️💥

As I recall power divider ìs for loose surfaces only. It works like a locked diff × 2 and does NOT like turning round corners especially on a hard surface .
@kenkrauss5045
@kenkrauss5045 Жыл бұрын
Ramsey, the power divider is used to lock in axel two for more traction in dirt, snow and ice. You can see a small air line going into the diff, that is what locks up the axel two. And that is the weakest link in the drivetrain. That older truck most likely will not have a locker posi rearend so it's ok to drive it on road but at slow speeds only, still not recommended though. The drive shaft was just old and tired, or possibly a rock damaged it at sometime. I'm an owner operator of 20+ in a dump trk and never had that happen. Usually the u joint goes first from age. New seals like mentioned earlier above, is the only way to go. If not, an oil leak will show up really fast. Love your channel ABR ♥️🙏

You want to lock the power divider for slippery conditions, it locks the front differential to the back differential thru the shafts between them so both axles will drive at least one set of tires

The Power Divider should be in the office position unless you lose traction, that's probably what caused the through shaft to break. It can also burn up your power divider on the front rear end. Never drive on the road with the power divider engaged.

power divider and interlock are the same thing. when in the out or unlock position the power goes through the front diff and only runs the rear diff. when locked in the power goes to both axles. NEVER SHIFT WHILE WHEELS ARE SPINNING preselect before you get into a rough spot.
@patrickburgmeier7902
@patrickburgmeier7902 Жыл бұрын
Power divider needs to be out for highway driving. It should be in for offroad soft conditions. Leaving it in on the highway would put stress on the front driveshaft, and the rear driveshaft, plus both differentials. What the power divider does is locks both axles together. The more Sissy drives the better she will get. Tell her to kinda watch the rpms. Take it outta gear at about 1700 rpm, and into gear at about 1200 rpm. Reverse the process for downshifting. There is usually a 500 rpm drop between the gears. 250 rpm drop if you are splitting gears. You are doing a great job instructing.

interlock/power divider locks both axels together to increase traction in slippery offroad conditions, normal highway driving the switch should be in off position . that seal may look like it was ok to you but you have disturbed the seal and it will probably leak if you put it back together .do yourself a favor and change the seal while you are already in there so you don't have to take the driveline and yoke back off.

The power divider lever is supposed to stay in the out position. You only use the power divider when you need extra power to the wheels. Never run the truck with it in gear. Please replace all the seals that you are dealing with. Need new seals with new parts. Blessings from Texas

Roxi you did a good job for your first time driving the truck. Just practice where the gears are so you can move to them easier and get the engine RPMs lined up with your road speed and gear. A power divider locks the two tandem axles together, meaning you now have power to the wheels on both rear axles. In should be engaged and only used on uneven or questionable traction areas. A true inter lock should be a differential lock, much like a posi track. And only used in extremely slick type conditions. Under a load with little to no traction issues your power divider could have caused your drive line failure. Failure usually accurs while turning when the wheels are not able to slip, to relieve pressure on drive train. Drive line failure is preferred. Otherwise you break axle shafts or ring gear bolts, and or gear teeth.

My understanding about the IN and OUT. When you need extra traction put it to IN. Normal driving leave it OUT. It is to lock the second drive axle to help get you through a rough spot or when your main drive axle spins or high centers.
