Good morning Ryan -all I can say is that the Mets reach down deep inside to come back in that first game and win it with the home run by Lindor. Just an amazing performance. He had to figure they wouldn’t have the same energy in the second game, but at least they’re in the playoffs. What is sad is that Pete is just not there - it’s not the same Peter Alonzo and they really need him. Yeah, .. I mean, Lindor has been so great and so essential to the Mets' success. I can't ignore it. Ohtani's stats ... despite him only being a DH ... are so astounding that it is hard to look past. I just hope the writers who vote don't screw Lindor and downvote him in the way he was downvoted to keep him out of the All-Star game. Ohtani had a historic offensive season. Okay. It happened. Make sure Lindor is recognized as a strong #2 in the voting. He deserves it, at the very least.

For the Mets in my opinion to make a deep run; they need another 1-2 bullpen arms to step up. I aspect many games to be close. Diaz can't be used for a lot of 6 out saves or he is going be too worn out at some point. Yesterday, it was the offense that bailed him out as he blew the lead. With out Lindor that game could have ended differently and people remember that Diaz was not sharp

I was trying to plead in various posts and chats that the METS were MUCH better served by NOT sweeping yesterday...MIL is an easier opponent that SD, travel is MUCH more favorable (ATL had to fly overnight) and then the METS would've had to stay on the west coast, if successful vs SD, to play LAD for two, and if the Division Series went five fly BACK TO LA for a Game 5 vs LAD...Instead the METS go to MIL and then take PHI on for best-of-five...two teams I believe they CAN BEAT...If so, then LAD, or whoever beats the LAD, for best-of-seven NLCS...A Subway Series vs NYY is possible as well....!! I think the METS would have the edge over NYY if it comes to NYY vs NYM for the Rings...!!

I've told this story before, but I think it is fitting on the date of Rose's passing. When I was a 12-year old kid, I went to a Reds game with my dad. We arrived early, and I got to meet Rose. He autographed my Reds cap for me, and I was thrilled. Pete also, though, made a bet with me. He bet me that his team would lose by at least 2 runs. I was Reds fan, so I took the bet. It was just a $10 bet, and I kind of forgot about it during the game. I spent my allowance on a hot dog and a soda, .. I had no money left. The Reds lost by 4 runs, and to my surprise as my dad and I were heading to our car in the parking lot, Rose grabbed me --- like legit grabbed me by the back of my jersey -- and he demanded that I pay him the $10 I lost in the bet. I was shocked, to be honest. I told him that I did not have the money. He grabbed my wallet from me and checked to see that I had nothing left. He then made me give him my shoes as payment for the lost bet. I did it. I had to go home without my shoes, but at least I had that autographed hat. So ... probably a net gain. I guess. Anyway, that was my encounter with Rose.

After what I've seen with the Mets this season, you can't really say for certain how they will fare. They may beat the Brewers, the Padres, the Phillies, or the Dodgers, or the Brewers could sweep them.

@@fr2ncm9 Agree. They should be "competitive." I could see it going a number of ways, but I don't think the Mets are an "easy out" in the playoffs. We can't ignore that the Mets have the best record in baseball since June 1st. That is not a short sample. Not saying they are going to win the WS, or even win the WC series with the Brewers, .. but the Mets are legit. They are not some lame team that lucked into the post-season. We'll see what happens, but I'm not counting the Mets out. That all said: The Mets will play their sixth game in five days today. That is rough. Really rough.
