I remember seeing For Colored Girls on Broadway (1977) and hearing the song "I Found God in Myself, and I loved her dearly." The message about the true nature of God was there for a long time.

Thank you for doing this review. Never read the book but watched the movie a few times and iften go through so many emotions seeing it.
