Space Engineers is a voxel-based sandbox game set in space and on planets, developed and published by Czech independent developer Keen Software House. In 2013, the initial developmental release of the game joined the Steam early access program. During the following years of active development, Space Engineers sold over one million units. In total as of 2019 the game has sold over 3.5 million copies In May 2015, for approximately a year and a half, the game's source code was officially available and maintained by KSH to assist the modding community. On December 15, 2016, the game entered Beta and was later officially released on February 28, 2019.
The game is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses, pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive.

Plushies are also sometimes found as random loot in Unknown Signals. The quantity of Space Credits as loot in these has also been buffed, to the tune of 2,000 - 9,999 credits being seen often. However, the Unknown Signal's GPS no long points directly to the button, but rather to the grid. On probes with lots of buttons, it may be hard to remember which is the real button to roll for a skin.

0:28 it _does_ service a purpose. When you have a complex conveyor system, and aren't running like Isy's Inventory script, being about to fine-tune connection points can be key to making sure your ammo box doesn't get filled with ice, for example.

Yep. My mining ship had accidentally bypassed the stone filter for my ejectors and started throwing literally everything out of my base. By the time I noticed, several hundred thousand ingots of various metals, lots of ammunition, parts, and other stuff had been yeeted from my storage system and onto the ground, most of which despawned.

The T-Conveyor will use less actual PCU for sure. Besides looking cleaner. Same goes for using the reinforced conveyors instead of the six sided junction to make a wall airtight.

Death to conveyor junctions. It's so much worse than just the PCU; they strangle server speeds because they're always checking every face on every tick.

I am going to replace some of my 6 way junction conveyors with these enclosed conveyors. Hopefully, I will free up a couple hundred PCU in the process while keeping my ships pressurized parts sealed up.

I'm really glad with how the new reinforced conveyors were balanced, I wasn't impressed at first and just assumed they would be a middle ground between the durability of the naked conveyor tubes and the conveyor blocks. But it turns out they are actually slightly heavier and more durable than the conveyor blocks. So that plus the additional airtight sides makes them very much worth using, especially if you try to cram as much as possible in your ship interiors. The conveyor converter has also been ridiculously useful in building small grid rotor turrets, something which I've been enjoying a lot since the Warfare II changes made building them a lot more interesting already. Now my turrets don't need to have the extra block's height connectors obstructing the maximum depression angle! The small advanced rotor is nice and all but haven't used them yet out of serious concern for the durability of them.

Small advanced rotors are just as durable as regular rotors, and if you surround them with enough armor they should survive decently well. I haven't used them yet because there's a bug where their displacement is reversed, so I'm scared that my turrets will break the moment it gets fixed.

@@pocarski well that's cool, displacement bug aside. I already used them by now in a small grid dual railgun turret so glad to know I don't need to worry too much about their durability. I think the biggest problem with rotor heads is that separate grids don't occlude explosions, and inherent in rotos is that you can never completely surround the head or base in armor. But it's worth it for freedom over looks and weapons mounted ☺️

Fun fact, 6 way conveyors use substantially more resources then regular conveyors due to how keen has coded the item management in storage and transportation, so having 3 way conveyors is HUGE now we just need 4 and 5 ways, there's a reason most servers I play on use molded conveyors and outright ban use of junctions.

I often use catwalk flat panels for this to some effect, but it's not the same as painting an individual side of a block though

I'm honestly impressed with the base they built to demo it. This isn't just a front with no substance like the 2014 demo base, or half-baked like the green Asteroid Base scenario. It's a fully functional base with a lot of work put into it.

T shaped conveyor helps reduce lag in large builds because of how the inventory system makes pull requests from what I understand. each connector face makes a pull request even if its not connected. The armored conveyors fill a role in that regard as well as they are air tight on one side and fill an entire block so no more conveyor junction rows to connect 2 structural points in the ship.

A lot of this was already available through mods, I had the armored conveyors and new angled armor for example and more, but it's great they've added this to the base game now and it's free !! :)

The most important factor in the new T shape conveyor is lag reduction in multiplayer because the engine checks all 6 ports on a cube every second.

It really does feel like Keen's a bit late to their own party though; 90% of these blocks are already mods and they probably could've saved themselves a lot of trouble just reaching out to the modders and finding a copacetic way to simply integrate the modded blocks and reward the modders appropriately.

One thing I’ve found it if you put the small advanced rotor head on the large grid advanced rotor it makes any custom turret attach turn into a clang drive

I feel like this game decoration and building process will be super if they add a customizer tool like in satisfactory. Being able to change the primary and secondary color of a block individually, saving that preset, and changing that preset color making everything painted with that preset automatically shift colors would be a dream

You can stop the shaking on pistons and such by sharing tension on them, that seems to level them out

@@Zer0sLegion Sometimes I use hinges to connect small grid to large and connect one or more hinges together. Then the whole thing starts slowly shaking. (I don't have gyros on it) How to prevent that ? (I see the shaking on the speed meter. Jiggling between 0.00 m/s and 0.05 sometimes 0.10 m/s.) Do i need to set the hinges OFF or set the Nm to zero ?

Turning them off and turning off braking some just let them hang loose. It's normally the brakes that cause the shaking.

@@Zasalamel997 If you don't need relative movement between them that is uncommanded, just use the "Share Inertial Tensor" option in the hinge's control panel. This will tell the physics engine to treat the entire joint as if it was one rigid body. Also what @Zer0 said about brake torque is very correct and helpful.

On Xbox if you control a custom turret, after you exit the view you’re stuck, you can’t move, look around, or even switch weapons the only way to fix it is by destroying the custom control which you can’t do because you’re frozen

i honistly dont know whats my favorite part of the update as i just started to play, my one main peeve is how unstable the terran is on planets.

@@Zer0sLegion My first vehcale was destroyed because i spawned in a crater with som really steep slopes. I was moving my base to a npc station, then my oversized bus fliped and fell off a mountan losing all of my progress, so i created a new world and used a space pod insted, goten much farther and i hope i can build a few ships i downloaded off the workshop, still figuring out the ship building mechanichs, so taking a few ships that other players build will help me figure out the game. Great content btw

I think the new half catwalks may be bound on the wrong side. I tried placing one and the guardrail had to be against the wall.

To be fair I think half block vents are better. If you want it flush, you can just use half blocks around it, and if you want to hide it away because it's kinda ugly, you can easily have it in a recess covered by a grated window or something like that.

Still waiting for them to make the programmable block more accessible. There's zero official documentation on it, neither in-game nor anywhere else (also hardly anything unofficial that's useful). Also still waiting for them to actually make a game around this sandbox, so we (specially people playing single player) have actually something practical to work/engineer towards instead of just roleplaying.
