Hey Todd, great video. To me,,it is soooooo awesome to get videos about the same place,,seeing and hearing things from a different perspective. Neenee,,when she explains things with the English captions,, and you,,explain things slightly different,,or you each notice a different aspect. Anyway,,good job MATES! Lol. The long dirt road reminds me of a trip I took in the desert in northern Nevada that was about 300k from the edge of pavement to the next edge of pavement. Not Oz long , but long by U.S. standards. I love dirt roads,,I hope they never go away,, although since I was a kid ,,they have paved 1000s of miles of dirt in the state of Oregon where I was born. Dirt roads seem to keep most of the riffraff out. Lol. The crazy thing about that trip,,was 2 days later,,at my Uncles house,,my transmission went to shit. If it had gone out in the desert,,my dried out,,shriveled up carcass would still be out there 20 years later lmao. All the way across that road,, i met one car and saw maybe 3 ranch houses in the far distance. I did have 20 gallons of water with,,so I'd have survived a couple weeks. But no worries.,,i made it,,lmao. Like always in your vids,, it was the smiling happy people that made the show. Loved it. Thanks Todd and Neenee,,take care,,Ttyl,,,Marlon

Those kids always look out of each other and I guess it takes the village. The moms don’t worry about them there’s always another grandma, Aunty, or friend to keep an eye out. The moms only keep the babies close.

Lovely village indeed. I had not travelled outside Vientiane when I was a young boy in early 1960s. However, I worked during school holidays on wheatbin in the country side of Western Australia, as weightbridge officer. The bin which we took care of could save upto 20,000 metric tons of wheat, and there were only 3 of us, namely quality officer to make sure that the wheat were dry enough, weightbridge officer to keep books of wheat off loaded by individual farmers and to make payments to them, and the cleaning officers who made sure no wheat grains lying around. We all stayed on a hut which was self sufficient with electricity generated from windmills, water from the well near our hut. And we went to the nearest village once every two weeks, to buy our provisions. The village was very small with perhaps some 10 familities only, and the shop was basically the post office and bank also. And we were their major clients and they let us bought things on credit. Life very lonely and boring. That was in late 1970s. We did not have a car, and we simply walked to the village. We had to be a member of the labour union, though we were all students, before we could take up our jobs. The head of the union also came to see us at least once in a week, to see that we were not in good care. A very fond memory indeed, as the scenes are completely different from what we see here in the videos. We had huge trucks and machinery, and farming indeed very mechanical.

New subscriber and viewer here! 👋🏼 thanks so much for these raw realistic videos! I’m 26, Laos, and have never been. I have lots of family there and my gma always wants me to go with her when she visits but me being so Americanized I was always scared because I’m not used to rural areas. Laos is sooo beautiful and I’m mad at myself for doubting if I should go or not. This gave me the motivation to visit the homeland 🥰 thank you!

Love these videos. Brings back so many memories. I enjoyed my years living in the north of Laos. It was 20 years ago and I had no electricity or running water, but the experience was wonderful - rural Laos is a beautiful place and the people are incredibly warm and hospitable (even if our white skin makes some villagers think of ghosts - a comment I frequently got being as I am a very fair-skinned blonde!👻😱😆)

Love those kids, Do they have a school near by? I did"t see anything that looked like a school. The only thing that lifts people out of poverty is an education.and with all those kids some of them probably are pretty smart, but you never know until you test them, too bad. Like your videos, keep it up. I'm to old to do that kinda thing but its fun watching you two travel around having a great re-pour with the people.

These people don't really mix, a khmu village is a khmu village, go to the next mountain it's a Hmong village, so on and so fourth, and there are some villages where they don't like visitors that are not their ethnicity, and been told to keep on driving, rituals and cultures are so distinct its like each mountain is a different country, unlike anything in the states
@NowinLao4 жыл бұрын
No, never experienced that. Yes there are many villages of just one ethnicity, but to say they don't mix is incorrect. Just my last video, there were many Tai Dam, Lao Loum and other ethnicities living side by side. We have visited many mixed villages. Have never felt unwelcome in any village.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKqwqpWArZWbpKc

@@NowinLao that’s good, I find that people are always willing to talk and be friendly, I’m not a big fan of the terms Lao Loum, Soung, etc, it’s more towards nationalism, It takes away from the individual ethnic groups identity and their culture, which is what Thai’s do, Tai dam linguistically are closely associated with the Lue in Sipsongbanna, if you head west which you have the population becomes more Lue Bc of Sipsongbanna is to the west, Tai dam’s origins being Dien bien Phu to the East.
