The sad thing is. There's a theory that it did actually work. Because in the scene where Yugo forced the Eliacube to activate, they teleport to a storm ridden plane with what appears to be Ogrest in the background. And from what is known of the events before Nox's family's death, it would coincide with the time where it happened since it was revealed that his family was killed by Ogrest's Chaos. But in the heat of the moment and the obsession with getting Yugo's wakfu, he teleported back to the present and lost all that wakfu from the going back and forth which is why he only had 20 minutes left in the machine.

Nox's character is one of the best examples of incredible willpower! Force majeure, the toy of the gods, destroyed his life. But instead of just surrendering in the face of that which is higher than the mortal’s understanding, he, as a USUAL man, subjugated the power of the gods, defeated dragons and successfully fought with whole countries alone. At the same time, incredibly suffering all these years, but stubbornly moving towards his goal. Surprisingly, this character very clearly shows what the willpower of an ordinary person is capable of in a seemingly hopeless situation when the whole world and even the gods themselves are against you.

Nox is easily one of my favorite villains in any show. He is just so well done! Having an interesting back story, a tragic past, a good reason for being who he is now and why he is doing what he has been doing for centuries. He even looks just so damn cool! And his logic was sound, too! It gave him the push to be able to do all of the horrific things he needed to do to have his spell work. And the best part? He technically WINS. Think about it. He beat everybody in the first season. He got all of the energy he could get for the cube, and his spell *actually works!* he proved everyone wrong and had his spell work! They said it would tear the universe apart, yet it didn’t! And yet... it only reversed time by 20 minutes. Centuries of collecting energy... for 20 minutes. And when he realized it, that his spell technically required more energy than he could ever hope to collect, that he had done such horrific things and forever be unable to undo them - which is, again, one reason why he was able to convince himself to do such things -, it broke him. So much so that he apologized, crying, and left to let himself die on the graves of his family... Nox has beaten everybody. He has overcome every battle, but he lost what mattered most. All of that makes Nox one of the best villains in any show. It is a shame that we won’t ever see him truly come back though. Like through a sort of redemption arc where he could try to make up for everything he has done, thinking it’s to make up for what he did for his family’s sake, and to be able to face them one day when he dies. That would have been interesting to see in the latest season of the show... God, I hope they make another season. >.>

Stephen King: "Nightmares exist outside of logic, and there's little fun to be had in explanations; they're antithetical to the poetry of fear.” I think a similar logic applies to such tragedies as Nox's - the fact he can't redeem himself because of his death is what makes the sadness and heartbreak of it stay with one.

I wonder how Xelor the God of Time reacted to Nox going back in time: Was he suprised at the feat or did he lied about such a feat being impossible due to the amount of magic necessary to pull it off?

Personally, as a headcanon I like to think that when Nox reached the limbo of the Krosmoz (I forget its name) upon death, the gods probably gave his soul some kind of gentle penance like assisting around Xelor's realm for a thousand years as punishment for his actions, letting him off so easy out of pity.

Nox must be one of the best villans ever, he's sympathetic but clearly driven insane by his pursuits of happiness in the form of the eliacube. Although I find it's weird they treat him as dead in season 3. I always cry when Nox teleports away in that last episode. He just wanted to be with his family because he was so obsessed with the power of the cube that he neglected them.
@ecthox-1mork9094 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Nox's final scene genuinely makes me cry for him. And I find it really amazing that there was so much death and tragedy in the final battle against Nox, but at the end of it it was truly the antagonist who garnered the most pity of all. As for Nox being dead, that was more or less confirmed with a shot in the Season 1 finale's end credits, and I can't see him doing anything else but die after the tragic end to his time-rewind quest.
@reaper77694 жыл бұрын
One of the best villains with their backstories. He just wanted to get back to his family. And killed a lot of people to get there. Also one of the saddest defeats. All that pain and destruction for nothing. This is an awesome vid, dude. Really captures the moments.

So I watched this video before I watch the Actually Wakfu show. Sincerely I thought Nox was a Underdog hero, a machine built by to help (someone) but after that person died he lost his mind, and after several defeats laying broken n battered he was close to his goal. And I wasn't that far off. My god Wakfu wrote Nox so well! He is genuinely the best part of the show. N the fact I was so close just scenes alone tells how great the character was
@timothycarney96523 жыл бұрын
@Soniku11 Actually he is a cyborg- remember the scenes where he sicks those mummies on the dragon, I don't know the game lore, whether they are some twisted zombies, or just disturbing automatons or some even worse hybrid, but Nox basically turned himself into one of the same. That iron man like glowing hole in his chest is too deep, and in the final scene we see of him is his family's graves with his armor in a pile of dust. some of his scenes in his clock lair have wakfu being poored into his chest hole, he is basically a mummy kept walking around via magic and clockwork, thats part of the reason his movents are so jerky at times. He is basically like that cyborg/zombie guy from the first Hellboy film, but animated by the magic he gathers so he can keep gathering more for his big plan.
@steamworkfox45642 жыл бұрын
@@timothycarney9652 lol that's why I said close :) he was this Underdog Villain who desperately wanted to save the family he once had. From this desire he augmented his entire being for this singular goal. Really damn good story, just was never a fan of the show.

By far the absolute best character in anything I’ve seen beside Red Dead Redemption. Noximillion truly did not deserve what happened to him. At the end of season one, it was evident that he really didn’t care if everything lived or died, if it worked, his life was perfect again, if it failed, the suffering ends.

@echo17364 жыл бұрын
I think the music fits perfectly for him as he doesn't accept that he lost his family forever and thinks of going back in time to be with them and when the song ends it truly is over as he realizes that everything he has done was for nothing his plans of going back in time to be with his family failed and only sent him back 20 minutes realizing that everything was for nothing.
@madsvigan28983 жыл бұрын
One thing never mentioned. Doing the end title of season 1, we see noxs armor on his family grave. Its because when he teleported away, was because the 200 years was now cathing up to him, as he quickly returned to his family where he turned to dust.

The hero and the villain are equal in their reason for fighting. Nox lost everything he cares about and is trying to get it back. Yugo in turn is trying to preserve everything he cares about. That is one of the reasons why Nox is such a great villain.
@ecthox-1mork9095 жыл бұрын
Very nice video. :) :) I love the choice of song - I'd never heard about 'Wakfu', but having just now at the vid's end looked up Nox's story on Wikipedia, it seems appropriate to me that he'd have a song like this. Melancholic, about denying the overwhelming belief that things are over and done, and sounding to me when I watched the vid more like it was meant for a near-broken hero struggling against impossible odds than for a psychopath. :) :) This vid certainly has a lot of action sequences, and I love the way the fast-cut ones have so much colourful animated action and content crammed into them. :) :) I love how Nox switches from those unsettlingly saucer-wide robot eyes to angry eyes, and the clips where he jutters like a rusting machine or where he twitches madly like at 2:19, really do give me the impression that he's insane. :) Once again, you've managed to create a Villainous Breakdown in the vid's narrative, with the footage of Nox getting frustrated in front of the cube and seeming to scream at it - true to the song's hero-vibes, that clip's combination with "Don't get caught up in yourself" really makes it seem like that's Nox facing his breaking point and finding his resolve again, with how the footage of him using his powers and fighting follows. And, knowing his backstory, I rather love how this vid ends with him atop the cog-pile (I'm assuming that's probably the moment he discovered he could only go back in time twenty minutes), and the way his damaged face's white-cracked, glassy look around the eye makes it look like he's crying. :) :) I wouldn't have minded some footage of his backstory appearance though, in spite of its relevance to his quest and the song.

He maybe could've won if he had aimed even higher. The Sadida tree wasn't enough, but maybe with the Dofus Ogrest had at the time, or reuniting the dragon ones, he could've gone back more than 20 minutes.
@The_Court_Poet4 жыл бұрын
@@TheUrizen The thing is. But in the heat of the moment and the obsession with getting Yugo's wakfu, he teleported back to the present and lost all that wakfu from the going back and forth which is why he only had 20 minutes.

when the villain you introduce in Episode 1 is more menacing and *real* than every other threat in the series combined. I've got no idea who wrote what parts of what (this was all based on a game so there are probably a LOT of writers involved in the body of work, likely even several layers of them on specific parts) but whomever was responsible for season1 and the content it was based on was either far more skilled or simply not toiling away at their daily grind adding on fluff content to sell merch. I'd compare him to the other villains but quite frankly *I do not remember their names* because there just wasn't enough character behind the plot device to attach a name too.
