Delicious in Dungeon English Dub was an unexpected surprise. Emily Rudd voices the role of Marcille, a somewhat clumsy mage, but with a good heart, and no stomach for eating monsters. She did such a great job with her performance. This new anime from studio Trigger delivers a belly full of yummy monster goodness and a belly full of laughs in equal measure. In Delicious in Dungeon Episode 1, "Hot Pot/Tart," we’re introduced to Laios, a knight who leads his team of adventurers deep into a dungeon filled with monsters. When a powerful dragon attacks, they suffer a major setback: Laios' sister, Falin, is swallowed whole, and the group must retreat before they can rescue her. Desperate to save her but short on supplies and money, Laios proposes an unconventional solution-cooking and eating the monsters they encounter in the dungeon to sustain their journey.
Though skeptical, his companions Marcille the elf mage and Chilchuck the thief agree to try this approach. They start by hunting a basilisk and preparing a hot pot with its meat. In each dish, Laios’ enthusiasm for monster-based cuisine is infectious, and they begin to see his plan's merits. The episode mixes fantasy adventure with creative cooking as the group bonds over their unusual meals, setting the stage for an adventurous (and appetizing) quest to rescue Falin.
