Look! I know it is a war movie, and tragic things do happen during war. But this movie about the boy and his violin (during World War II, and some other stuff) is as weird, unintelligible, and confusing as fuck to me.

I understand your point of view. Maybe you're missing out because you don't understand the dialogs. But yes, most of the time, imagery must replace words aptly. Still, music as a whole is a powerful anti-war symbol. Rostropovich himself played cello when the wall of Berlin was smashed open, thus greeting the end of the cold war...
