I can confirm your suspicions. I’m just outside of Nashville…I live up on a hill and for some strange reason in this pocket there is no fiber option, so I use Verizon white cube. My speeds (location is ripe with towers) runs as high as 800mbps before getting slammed all the way down to 315-320ish. Btw tMobile which I had before this, for a while was 600-800mbps…then I think they also got wise and throttled down. Great video as always! Cheers mate

The more I watch your videos the more I think I want to get the 4x4 MIMO antenna. I have T-Mobile with the Arcadyan gateway. For the first few days of our service we were seeing 250-320kbps down and 20-28kbps up but now, a few weeks later, we more typically see 100-180kbps down and 5-11kbps up. My gateway is connecting to b2 and n41. While I can see the benefits of the peplink modem I would not use its router at all (I have a Ubiquiti UniFi system with Wifi 6 APs already that I want to continue to use) so I just don't think I can justify the expense. I'm not afraid to take apart my Arcadyan so I think that if the antenna can increase our speed (especially the upload) and reduce our ping I would be pretty happy. I'm saving over $50/mo after switching to T-Mobile from Spectrum cable internet so the return on investment in the antenna would be less than a year.

Hey Nater Tater, would connecting the mini antennas, like those on the peplink to the big 4-way, and then taping them to the outside of the stock T-Mobile or Verizon modem increase speeds? Basically, wouldn’t the tiny antennas broadcast the stronger signal directly to the stock internal antennas? Just wouldn’t want to take the stock modem apart. Do you have to attach to the inside of the stock modem.

No because the cellspot uses your internet connection and thus would be infinite loop and not work with cellular home internet. Also 200Mbps is more than enough for home use despite ISP marketing.

That 30ft cable, don't you lose 1dbm per 6 feet? Do you think you'd get even better results with a shorter cable? (assuming you don't need to run 30 feet)
@NaterTater Жыл бұрын
Yes, you do get signal loss with the cable and longer is worse so it is best to keep it as short as possible. But its not 1dB per 6ft, that might be someone's rule of thumb but its based on many factors like the cable type and which signal (frequency) you are referring to. There are calculators online if interested.

Q: T-mobilie transmitter vs Receiver antenna. This video is great. Although it is useful to increase the ability for the t-mobile router to pick up signal, I was wondering if you could post a mod to replace the omni-directional transmitter with a directional. I need to transmit my wifi to a. buddy on a nearby boat and I have not found a way to add a directional antenna as I would a home-internet router over a distance. ( i.e. without adding hardware to his boat, I would prefer directional emitting signal)Could you address this? You are a t-mobile router Genius! (this might be useful for people with a distant out-building or barn as well, also seems better than a repeater which won't work for my circumstance)
@NaterTater Жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHOnmKWjiNSHhqM or you can use just one so its directional but know that you will run out of the ability to send back to the directional antenna at some point. Connect a wifi router to the tmobile gateway. Make sure the router has antennas that can be unscrewed. Then, connect a directional antenna to that antenna spot and point to the boat. You could also set up a point to point system using ubiquity nano beams

Nate those TMO results are interesting. I have a suspision regarding the N41 and N71 signal results you saw. N41 is a 2.5 GHz signal vs N71 being 600 MHz. Being higher N41 is technically a stronger higher capacity (at shorter ranges) but more easily subject to interference, while N71 has longer usable range. When you moved upstairs you got better signal strength with N41. Especially when using the MIMO antenna, that appears to have isolated whatever interfence you have to that frequency. It is interesting that B2 has a comparatively poor signal to B66. Is B2 on a different tower for you? Overall excellent results for T-Mobile for you.
@NaterTater Жыл бұрын
Yes, since I'm not line of sight namely due to trees the lower I am the more signal degradation I get on n41 (and to lesser extent on n71). Higher improves that. Also n71 and n41 differ in how they handle the data/packets (FDD vs TDD) which makes n41 upload drop like a tank with poor signal.
@srcrewchief89 Жыл бұрын
@@NaterTater I know the LOS pain. My nearest usable TMO tower is 5.5miles away. It is not terrain blocked but does have some tree interference. There are closer towers, but I'd need a 50ft+ tower to clear terrain LOS.

@@instrumentsponge I've had 2 segnificant changes recently. TMHI was finally made available to me, after filing an FCC protest (long story). Recieved the Arcadyan KVD21 a little over a month ago. Already had a Waveform 2x2 log periodic antennas and a different 2x2 panel antenna, so the KVD21 recieved the needed mod's. up until last week the only real difference I was seeing was no longer having a data limit. On a good day only getting approx 50d/8u off peak and 5d/1u evenings LTE only. Beginning of last week TMO appears to have brought some new B66/N41 antennas online that cover me. Both have roughly rsrp -101/resrq -8. While not great does give the KVD21 enough to aggragate giving me an average of 170d/10u after some fine tuning on attenna alignment. Current firmware is v 1.00.18.

Nate, I swear I replied to my last comment on your last video about the Verizon ASK-NCQ1338FA, but yes I can confirm it is E-Sim. I’ve only had it for 3-4 weeks now, and the SpeedTests have been really good so far, but these new videos make me feel like I’m missing out. I have only had this service for about 25 days, and I’m wondering if there is a trick to getting the Askey or Arcadian gateways with a physical SIM? I am willing to cancel it just because I have a cable provider backup, but I really hate them 😂

Nate I just made a great discovery! Forget my previous comments, and the other gentleman’s comment, about the Verizon Ask-ncq1338FA gateways being ESim. I swear all the emails and communications from Verizon have said the “E-Sim” number but I finally got to the point where I didn’t care anymore, and I pried up the little white cover, UNDER the silicon white cover you’ve shown before, and sure enough…THERE IS A SIM CARD! If you can somehow private message me, I will give you my phone number and send you a video to prove it. I just don’t want to give my number out to the entire internet here. But to be clear, I lifted the silicon flap up, and then took a utility knife blade to the little white square plastic piece that covers up the traditional SIM port. Eventually, once I ran out of cares to give, it popped free and left me with the most beautiful sight in the world… a real deal hands on SIM card. Keep up the awesome work Nate… still love you buddy!
