Scott Simon is one of my favorite radio hosts of all time. He's just has the best questions and funny retorts.

I have always loved NPR for its commitment to making the world accessible to everyone. "If no one is listening, why are you talking..." Exactly. No one benefits from over-intellectual blabberings that don't communicate to your intended audience. It shows you truly respect people with varied backgrounds, and that's so admirable. Thank you thank you thank you! Keep up the good work.

You are correct. Fossil fuels come from sunlight many years ago. We have to start getting significant energy from current sunlight. There's a small tidal power station in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, and the Danes get about 20% of their electricity from wind.

Great advice, Scott, but I hear the "don't use dependent clauses to introduce a name" rule broken frequently on NPR. Especially when introducing a soundbite by someone rebutting something just heard.

Coal is worse than nuclear power in spewing radioactivity, besides heavy elements like mercury. The amount of waste from nuclear power is relatively small. I love the way the US obsesses about rdioactive power waste and ignore that made by weapons production.

I think that's true. I am one among many greens favoring nuclear power. The French have done it right in standardizing designs. In the stupid US, there are no two nuclear plants the same.

And don't think I'm defending all climate models. As a group it's clear they are works in progress. That's the nature of science. You see whether the model predicts correctly and if not modify accordingly. One test I would make is how did the model do in predicting temperature after the Krakatoa eruption.

Realistically, no news station in the United States is unbiased. Npr, however, is probably the least biased of all of them. Yes I am a democrat so their left view of politics and the world may strike my pallet more, but compared to the majority of news outlets in the country they are probably the one station that tries and succeeds at giving people just the news, and not all of the political bile that other outlets will give you.
