I never comment on videos, but I played a music festival last night, and Valerie June was next up after us. I have no words. Okay, I do: love, light, grace, joy. She held the audience in her hand, and hugged each and every one with her voice. New fan for life.

I remember when this sweet girl came into the coffee shop I was assistant manager at (while putting myself thru college). She was 16 & had just left home (MS). We worked together for about 2 years & I saw her off and on after that. During all that time I heard her sing at small gigs & whoever’s house we were hanging out at. Her voice brought me to tears more than a couple of times. I knew she’d go far…I love that she’s getting the respect & admiration she deserves.❤

In an interview posted on his website, Bob Dylan said he’d been listening to June, whose latest album, The Order of Time, is a blend of spacey hippie soul, blues and folk with June’s pinched, modern-Appalachian voice at the center. “I lost it,” June says of the Dylan shout-out.
