I want to live in an alternate universe where M Ward is as popular as Ed Sheeran. I love everything about this tiny desk

I totally agree but in that universe we’d probably weirdly prefer Ed Sheeran...

Id love to hear a jazz singer do a collection of Ward's tunes. I know She & Him is great but i mean a jazz cat doing a jazz album of his tunes. So goooood

I am huge fan of this man, and even bought tix to see she and him in September a couple weeks ago, but the truth is I haven't listened, really listened in years. This is just the reminder i needed... Chinese Translation, Duet for Guitars and Requiem are phenomenal ~ it all is really musically and lyrically. I am also going to pretend like this video is not really two years old... Sorry for the delay ~ NPR (and fabtastic!!! sound quality) ~ always in perfect time Mr. M Ward!!!

M.Ward seems the most talented singer/songwriter in my lifetime, and I don't even usually listen to such calm music. As much as I love Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Simon&Garfunkel, CSNY, Tim Buckley, Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell, they merely give M.Ward a bit of company, especially the last two. If you need more evidence of the many textured landscapes of his brain, then listen to his songs "Helicopter", "Hi-Fi", "Outta My Head", "Vincent O'Brien", "Regeneration #1", "Chinese Translation", "Duet for Guitars #3", "Requiem", "Color of Water", "Half Moon" and "Poison Cup", and try not to be transported to some summer sunset slow dance. If you can't get someone to slow dance with you to these last three songs, then you should quickly administer CPR. Since around 2008, I have woo'd my last three woowies with Mr.Ward, and usually I can't recycle wooing music like that. But it's just so good. No wonder Zooey Deschanel sought him out . . . Saw him at the Crescent Ballroom, Phoenix, and he was as serious (and unassuming) then as he is here. . . P.S. Listen to "Big Boat" while riding your ridiculously big motorcycle road sofa, or the equivalent.
