in NPV first year is usually not discounted. in 14.56 of video the amount of first year (70000) should not be discounted. because discount rate should be started from second year of operation. correct me please if I'm wrong.

Dear Friends, I have 3 questions: 1 / I mean the capital budgeting is a tool to simulate the cash flow of a capex project and evaluate the profitability and feasibility of each capex project, is that correct or not? 2 / For capex projects with approved capital budgeting, how do I put this CAPEX cash flow into the cash flow of company? 3 / For business planning, I mean CAPEX will create OPEX before, right ?.

in private business we are interested in the payback period FIRST ( undiscounted) after that we calculate the PV of cashflows and see how the payback period changed...from there we can play with the figures to get the percentages of profitability for every year then we can have a weighted cash flow percentages for more precise picture..up to five and ten years cash flow projections are a must....this IRR and such is really for those who make their income by preparing feasibility studies .

Sir, given the discount factor, and the present value, would you not calculate the NPV using the Present value tables????
@pmtycoon
@pmtycoon 6 жыл бұрын
You need FV and discount rate to get the PV, if you already know the PV then sum all PVs to get NPV.

hey I was wondering how do you get (1+K) in power of 1 or 2 on excel. I tried didn't I always use (1+K)^1 ?
@pmtycoon

Could you elaborate a bit more?
@seerat1000
@seerat1000 8 жыл бұрын
I mean how do you get à number to à power (1+k) without this ^
@pmtycoon
@pmtycoon 8 жыл бұрын
Its just visual representation. not the function. I multiplied by the cell by the upper cells. You could use carat (^) instead. it is simpler. (1+K)1 =L9 (1+K)2 =L$9*G9 (1+K)3 =L$9*G10 (1+K)4 =L$9*G11 (1+K)5 =L$9*G12 By the way.. you got an eye for detail :)
