A film that tells the story of the ACWP - African Cassava Whitefly Project - from its inception in 2015, to the present day. The project began with the aim of trying to discover what was killing cassava plants - an essential source of food across Africa - and causing food insecurity and famine. The research revealed that two diseases - cassava mosaic disease and cassava brownstreak virus - which effectively destroyed the crop - were being spread by a tiny insect - the whitefly. But how best to tackle this and how to inform farmers of crucial developments? Watch this short film to find out how the scientists are winning the battle and saving crops and ultimately, lives.
