NREL: Defining Strategic Energy Security

Strategic Energy Security is a growing field of research focused on developing strategies and systems that can ensure uninterrupted availability of energy sources at an affordable price with minimal negative consequences from energy use, including efficiency, environmental, social, and geopolitical factors. NREL is helping to contextualize the national security implications of the current global energy transition and working on new methods and strategies to help decision-makers understand strategic energy security while reducing the negative consequences from energy generation.
