AFL fans carrying on about attendance just don't understand the fact that Rugby League is almost perfect for TV broadcasts, which leads to a lot of fans preferring to watch at home. The cameras can get in tight on every tackle, it can stay tight for the play the ball, it can switch to the wide shot as they pass. The way it all unfolds the viewer at home has a very good idea of where each player is. Basically, AFL is a lot easier to follow and understand tactically if you are at the ground compared to watching on TV. Rugby League is the same whether you are at the game or at home, so people like to watch in comfort at home. TV money is bigger and more important than gate receipts.

Look i love both sports but lets be real, AFL Attendance is way better than NRL ok regardless of the fact that NRL still has suburban stadiums that hold only 10,000-25,000 people each while AFL has not only the biggest Stadium in the country the MCG (100,000) But also more modern and bigger stadiums like Optus Stadium (60,000), Marvel Stadium (53,000), Adelaide Oval (53,000) etc. AFL Averages around 34,000 in attendance while NRL only Averages around 20,000 in attendance AFL Attendance is better whether we like it or not so yea. But Viewership wise NRL Got it over AFL. I mean with numbers like 171.8 million total viewers for NRL to the 142.8 million total viewers for AFL, i mean the numbers dont lie bro. So all in all i say for attendance AFL wins and for viewership NRL wins. Plus now that the NRL is making a move on vegas who knows what'll happen could go well could go bad either way NRL at the this very moment is doing better than AFL. Sorry not sorry i guess.😅

Click bait, NRL is far from it. Its played in 2 Australian states.. the Melbourne storm are made up of the mentioned two states. 60% of team are also islanders due to there size.. NRL are countries second or third sport. Example - New Zealand all blacks

NRL had more viewership on television than the AFL, NRL made more money this year than AFL. Granted However the NRL still is way behind in comparison to the AFL in two key areas. Membership in all AFL Clubs combined smashed over 1.2 million members average over 70000 per club while the NRL has about maybe under 400000 (the numbers are not fully known) with an average of about 23000 per club. Crowd attendance NRL had about 4.3 million people turn up to games average of 20000 per game, the AFL takes the cake with nearly double with 8.1 million people average nearly 38000 per game. So its still 50/50 had this stage, but the NRL as much as it wants to claim the top spot still has a long way to go and a lot of work to do so. The score is NRL:2 vs AFL:2.

You can't compare free-to-air viewers to paid suscription. Do you think AFL would leave 7 Network and give Kayo more rights for less money. Look at last years free-to-air grand finals TV audience, NRL 3.5mil to AFL 3.8mil, both beaten easily to Matildas, a ratings record during their World Cup semi-final against England. 11.2mil. AFL needs to stop messing the game up with rule changes every year, there doing it to themselves.
