in kkkanada, it's called the 60s scoop, but it went from the 50's-80's, and those of us who were trafficked to wyt folx are NOT respected by anyone, and certainly not by our own ppl. i respect the taino bcuz they knew to leave the table when they knew respect would never be served. i ache to join your ancestors.

@@a.m.s.twoheartalthough I feel for you, the Taíno people didn’t get a choice. Our Tainos were killed off. There was literally a handful left by the end. They were enslaved, killed, tortured and finally disease stole what was left. Our culture survives from the remnants. But Puerto Ricans are resilient people, we celebrate our Taino, our African and our Colonizer’s roots. Our history is our history but we learn from it and we make ourselves stronger. Dont let anyone, even your own people, turn you away from who you are. That is your right!

Wonderful histoy of both nations here. The Haka was first performed on a RU field when the NZ team (the Natives) toured UK in around 1890. In Wales the local spectators replied with their National Anthem which is believed to be the first time a NA was performed before a sporting event. A War Dance was performed by the Kangaroos in 1908 after the mighty Newtown Bluebags performed it at home game. It was ceased in the 1960's

I am Mexican, born and raised in Mexico and for me this makes all the sense in the world. We can be anything we want: a farmer, a bricklayer, a teacher, a doctor, an athlete but in the end we are warriors. The indigenous peoples of Mexico were sophisticated cultures, they built huge buildings, poetry, art, dances but they considered themselves above all things as warriors and Mexicans still consider ourselves warriors. New Zealand thank you for maintaining the native cultures and honoring it with so much love. I really admire you.

State of Origin - Original States. This is IMO better than SoA. All of the comments here seems to align with the general theme. The amount of good, genuine respect for culture has, in society. Amazing to see these leaders teach the next generation, controlled power. I think that both the dance (sorry from not knowing its name) and haka was recognised for what it was. Here is our best! We're showing you our most! We're summoning support to be at our utmost. Please do the same. For the First Nations People to know, show and recognise that, was the best. Great respect for the NRL living the path to cultural inclusively. I'd love to see all NRL teams send an observer to these. That way they can bring this back to the regions they represent.

Even though the nation I live in subjugated them. They’re brave fighting men gave their lives for an Empire that didn’t love them back. We owe our freedom and democracy to such individuals. From the four Corners of the Globe. When we honour the dead remembrance day. I think of you all aswell. The way of the warrior is to fight for what’s yours and who you love.
