Your “Big Boy” jumping style is what drew me to your channel. It is remarkably smooth and graceful. It almost looks like the bike is already preloaded approaching the lip without you having to push it into the takeoff. I am tall like you but half of your body weight. One thing that I personally struggle with is getting the bike preloaded at high speeds. I find that scary and it can go bad if you mistime it. You look very calm and stable when you jump regardless of your approach speed. Well done.

mass is not a direct factor, but it could play into velocity which affects your hang time. So as long as you match velocity and trajectory you would be getting the same hang time.

LOL - 'The answer to a question literally nobody was asking' At the start my guess was going to be you'd have more air time, due to momentum. As a fellow Clydesdale, I appreciate the humor in your channel - Keep it up!

You've been my inspiration for the last few months, I broke the pedal on my transition Sentinel once doing wheelies and almost gave up since I thought I was too heavy, I'm just starting out, I'm only 5'8" but about 225-230 lbs, I do workout a lot so I'm strong, but I almost gave up because I thought I was too heavy, until I saw your videos and even saved some of them, thanks for not letting me quit. I'm only 29 too, so maybe I would've lost some weight before I tried it again, but doing it now is also gonna help me with that, thanks again!.

Not even close to too heavy. Gear breaks tbh, bent a spindle riding trails yesterday and I am only 175lbs. Once it breaks just make sure you get something stronger to go in its place!

@@charleshazen5779 thanks! I guess I was a bit ignorant when I thought that, and yes, definitely, those were Raceface chesters, but I bought the bike used so who knows how much abuse they took from their previous owner.

Haven’t rode a bike regularly since high school. Bought one a few years ago from Walmart and bent the back wheel after 5 minutes of riding and 1 jump. I weigh 290lbs and just thought I was too big to ride. After seeing your videos I decided to order a specialized stump jumper. Should be here in a few days.

I have a buddy who’s like 140 and has a 200m downhill bike, and he boost these jumps like crazy effortlessly. I am a 200lb rider with a bike of 160m and I have to go a lot faster and boost harder to get remotely close to the amount of air he gets. Weight and suspension definitely play a major part if you both travel the same speed and boost the same way.

Nerd answer: PE=(mass)*(gravity)*(height) and PE=KE due to the law of conservation of energy. Disregarding minute losses of air, heat generation, and rolling resistance - Big vs. normal should be more or less equal. 2 seconds difference in a ~44 second run is around 4.5%. Probably within the normal variability range of multiple runs of the same (non-pro racer) person. So... call it a wash. That Mr. Biggums was consistently minutely slower on each course would indicate that BigBoy just needs to use his mass more effectively by going faster.
