4:30 The way it took you to be able to stand and how long it took you solidified me not getting this vessel. I want a standable and fishable platform without having to hold onto things to stand up. The one i am interested in is the Savage gear E-rider which isn't available in the united states. That one is kind of different from this but 1/3 of the price since that one is more considered as a small skiff with a transom mount with the ability to add a gas or electric motor or trolling motor. All of the videos on that rig i have seen people stand up like if they were sitting down on a chair without difficulty and no wobbleness. Most people fish on that one standing up. I currently have a ascend fs12t 12' foot kayak from bass pro that i haven't used in years i used it 15+ years ago for spearfishing and diving and i'm just too lazy to load it up on my roof and i don't want to bring my jon boat out if it's just me so a small skiff that i can fish while standing on fits the bill. I'm just really torn right now between an expedition 85 which is a pack raft, which is perfect for where i live lots of mountain lakes and ponds. That or the savage gear e-rider.

Well standing in it isn't important to me at all. I was simply seeing if I could stand in it. I've never found a need to stand and fish from my kayak honestly. I don't imagine I'd stand the first time in any boat much better. I didn't really feel like going for a swim. That being said I don't mind at all if you are not sold on the NRS because I bought the boat and was just showing it to folks in the event it helps. Still a cool boat and still pretty happy with it.

@@projectknifehand Well kayaks aren't meant to be used while standing up at all. It's mostly 100% sit down situation. For me setting the hook on big bass with thick wire gauge hook I need to stand up. Which is why I want a stand up rig. Otherwise I would use my jon boat with spotlock gps autoboat system or my kayak if I wanted to sit. There isn't many platforms out there for what I'm looking for.

i do believe there are rigs meant for standing. they are simply heavier than I have an interest in dealing with. This boat was purchased for pretty much exactly what I use it for. I can pack it in the back of on my truck, drive to a remote lake or pond and set it up. I have a few boats of different types and being able to have the boat under the cap of my truck without having to strap it down is a plus to me. the largest negatives for this boat to me are the lack of scupper holes, which I knew when buying. And it being a pretty calm water boat, which I also knew. Its awesome for local ponds and lakes, sleepy rivers etc. @@freshandsaltyjohnny

I can stand and cast then bend over sit my rod down and grab my paddle and paddle all while still standing in my pike - I'm 270lbs

Woa!!! Brave!!! I wouldn't have risked standing with all the equipment in/on it.

I was pretty confident it wouldn't flip. The worst case I figured I'd fall out lol

@projectknifehand by any chance did you take this craft to a river with a steady current?
@projectknifehand23 күн бұрын
I have not. I intend to but since I have some nice canoes I haven't used this in a river yet. It is definitely better suited to calm water so providing the river doesn't contain class 2 rapids you'd probably be fine.

I got mine about a month or so ago. Loving it. If anyone out there can recommend a 12v inflator, it would be great to hear from you. The super pump 2 works well but I'm looking for an auto inflator to ease the task. TIA

I just got a new one actually. I will open it and check it out and let you know.

@@johnmcmanus123 Thanks John. I found it on Amazon. It looks decent, but I can't tell if it includes the adaptor for the C7 fill valve on the Pike 126. Can you confirm?

@mysteryman5213 I can't because I didn't order it yet. I seen it last night .

If you want ti stop slapping you need to move forward. My first time out i had a 15mph head wind with 1+ ft swells an a couple inches of chop. Had no slap just rod up and over the waves. Boat cut them fine.
@projectknifehand Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I will try that as well. Not sure how much you watched but I did mention needing weight in the front but wanting to sit further back for a better paddle position. I could slide forward or add some weight to the front. I haven't tried either yet. I will probably take you up on that suggestion unless I am carrying camping gear.

Where did you get it on sale? I've been debating on the kuda or pike. Did you consider the kuda? If not .....why?
@projectknifehand Жыл бұрын
I got it on sale directly from NRS. It was like 20 percent off. I considered the Kuda for a short period. I did really like the idea of the Kuda, but I decided against it because of the foot rest situation. The foot rests on the Kuda are situated in a weird and not natural position, in my opinion. When you are sitting in a kayak you seldom have your feet straight up and down. I felt the position in the Pike is far more natural and would be more comfortable with long days on the water. Also, the Pike had more mounts, and you sit a bit more inside the boat than on top of. So overall it seemed like a much better fit for me.

@projectknifehand I've been considering both these as well, and I think for me, the biggest thing pointing me to the pike really is the bow. I feel like inflatables aren't the greatest at tracking to begin with, and I'm also thinking about taking it on a larger lake where there might be waves and bigger boats. I live right next to one of swedens largest and most species rich lakes, lake Vättern where they get lots of big salmon, char, and trout. So getting out there on a kayak could be alot of fun
@projectknifehand Жыл бұрын
@@acidead97 Well the only losing point for the Pike for me was the lack of scupper holes. If you take on water with the Pike, it stays in the boat. But this is something I am used to from Canoeing. The bow on the Pike is one of the reasons I chose it as well. You can also order different Skegs for the back to aid in tracking. Overall I am happy with my choice and would likely make the same one again
@vernonsimmons45782 ай бұрын
I got two skews with mine. A smaller one for shallow/rocky areas. Forgot the skeg install once and the tracking became nonexistent 😅
