Same as In France where 95% of the population was for Marshall Petain during the war time and 95% for General De Gaulle as soon as Germany was defeated ! Crowds are stupid and " Democracy" is the dictatorship of 51% over 49% !

There still are a lot. The nazi's changed their name and most of them left in Operation Paperclip and continued their work. Especially Nazi camp doctors besides people like Werner von Braun were transfered and put at work to give the US the absolute power. This is a tragedy for especially civilization world wide. They live their lives commiting the same crimes, the difference is it's hidden. This is however well documented. Their offspring has the same ideology. They don't care about whom their fuhrer is though, as long as they are allowed bizarre medical experiments, bizarre tortue, development of bizarre technology, and bizarre things not even Dr Mengele could achieve.

On the whole , the situation in the Netherlands immediately after the German occupation (or at least the areas the western allies hadn't reached yet) wasn't as bad as it was in France . I can't remember where or how I read it , I believe quite a number of French died because of revenge, maybe even more than military and civilian losses during the German invasion of France.
@alo03
@alo03 5 жыл бұрын
True ! France's "épuration" was a shame. Innocent and guilty killed at the same time, revenge denunciations, false witnesses and self-proclaimed judges at unofficial courts...
@arno-luyendijk4798
@arno-luyendijk4798 5 жыл бұрын
That explanation of "not as bad" needs some additional information, my friend: the provinces of Holland, Zeeland and Utrecht suffered a severe near-starvation winter 1944-1945 still known here today as the "Hunger winter" due to the isolation from the agricultural east of the Netherlands. following a train strike called in by the Dutch resistance and Allied forces. People were still dying after the food dropping of "Operation Manna" because they were so weakened they could not digest the solid food in a normal way anymore , and often overate themselves. So this period for the west of the Netherlands was indeed VERY bad. Also, the amount of collaboration concerning taking in Jewish Dutch citizens appeared to have been far more far-reaching than in procentual ways in for example France where the resisistance was far more active. I can name you the city of Roermond in my vicinity where the complete Jewish population was "erased" by Nazi effects after the war. So kindly, read your sources for a second time, please.

indy 56: Dutch civilians that collaborated with Germans, they where (mostly) part of the National Socialist Movement (NSB= Nationaal Socialistische Beweging) in the video they are rounded up by angry civilians to take revenge. The women who where part of the movement got there head shaved and poured with black tar. The men and women went into internment (but not on trial!) I think most of them had a hard time after the war. I am happy that my grandparents were on the good side. My grandfather once told me that he helped a paratrooper to take shelter in their home when the Germans where looking for allied troops that where dropped but got to close in enemy territory. My dad was 6 years old back then, and he got an accident on liberation day when he fell of a tank, broke his leg. The Tommy's (British soldiers) went to see him the next day in hospital and gave him chocolate. Myself, i became friends with a war veteran from Wales who took part of the liberation of my town in 1944 (Eindhoven) this was in the mid nineties (i think i was about 25 around that time) i visited him and his friends who fought with him, such a lovely people, very fine memories. So sorry that they all have passed away but so honored to have known them. Let this be a lesson for us all and generations to come. If you want know more about the liberation of my town (and general stuff about WW 2) i recommend you to visit www. battledetective.com or www. eindhoven in beeld.nl (and typ 1944 in the search bar) i also recommend the website www.strijdbewijs.nl (it has a version in English) it gives you an in dept information about the second world war in general (you will need a few days to get through it)

The people arrrested and taken in in this vid belonged to the Dutch national-socialist movement, the NSB who collaborated with the Germans during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Sadly, there were also people who were accused of having collaborated (when there was often very less proof and much hearsay) or simply women who made the "mistake" to have fallen in love with NSB-people or Germans in this period. I am not going to defend the choices of NSB-members here. but there were so many 'closet-heroes' in the days of may 1945 who suddenly dared to take in their fellow NSB-neighbours after the German capitulation, that it still raises questions if this 'heroism' still deserves that term. The saddest thing was often the children of these NSB-members: they often had to pay years after because mammy and/or daddy was considered a "wrong person/traitor" in the war. Yes, there were certainly very willing collaborators among them serving as police snitches and jew hunters, but there were also people who only became a member after may 1940 because it gave them chances for jobs, and not always jobs concerning police tasks for the Germans. It is the eternal question of who were the real crooks and who were just bystanders. History will tell us.
