Long time radon mitigation contractor here. Don't use the sump lid as the radon collection point. Tee into the drain tile with your vent pipe. It's a far more robust assembly that can't be undone when servicing the sump pump and won't be in the way of that service. Given how wet things are, I'd also strongly recommend adding an active radon fan to the vent pipe. The average radon fan moves a couple gallons of moisture a day along with radon.

Great advice. We’re going to reconsider our approach.

I wish they would have put the information on the sump pump or a link to it in the description. I have a high ground water problem with existing buildings that I’m trying to figure out how to mitigate. It’s not ideal but it’s what I have to deal with. Thank you!

Are there bets on if the big tree will survive 3 years? What has been done to preserve it?

Go back to past episodes. They've had an arborist consult them on it.

10 gallons will not be large enough.

I think the sump pump pit it too small. It’s not about the pump size it’s the size of the collection pit that makes it preform. The pump will cycle off and on 24 hours a day

Sounds like nobody wanted to tell the owners they need a crawl space instead of a basement…

I'd be worried about the concrete drying properly in that.

I imagine a vapor barrier can be put down, also concrete cures and doesn't dry but I get what you mean. (edit, they mention putting a barrier down)

@@Brazilianfro32 usually a vapor barrier isn't put under the footing. Hopefully the stone will be enough.

The FastFoot system by Fab-Form is an ideal product for this situation. It also provides the capillary break needed as well.
