Great trip report as usual. I like the idea of clearing away the main meal tray before offering the hot beverage with the cake. This means passengers don't have to sit with their meal try for as long. The meal offering is actually better than a lot of carriers. I don't think the removal of the pillow will dent passenger bookings on KLM. They are also still offering self service drinks and snacks which some carriers do not offer. Thanks for the insight into a long KLM flight, I would like to give them a try one day.

KLM was the best service I ever had. I am never going back to Lufthansa. I still have a flight booked from Vienna to South Africa through France with them and I’ll use it at some point. I had a great bacon and scrambled egg breakfast last time I flew with them. Joburg to Vienna again, via Amsterdam.

I absolutely adore that engine view. The 777 may be noisy af but for an avgeek it’s one of the best planes 👌🏽 Very well filmed and put together. Beautiful African landscapes. Merci!

It was in fall 2015, I remember this fly with this KLM Boeing 777(the serial 200) flight to and from JNB for a vacation tour through South Africa. A nice KLM long trip and sitting, with but a good crew! ✈👍👍

Last time I was in the flight it was from Lebanon to Jordan in a A320 royal Jordanian took two hours then we took another royal Jordanian but it was a Boeing 787 to Canada 15 hours

Yeah, only on day flight … have a look at SIN AMS on the channel and you’ll be a bit disappointed by the service …

Great impressions, informative and entertaining flight report 😁✌ Though sad and annoying to see the problems at the airport and the decline in service. KLM was always one of my favourite airlines. To see the persistent attempts to cut costs everywhere is really disappointing in a customer's perspective.

That was few months ago, should be better. However, I flew earlier in march via AMS, and I waited 45m ! But this depend on the time of travel …

Since SA has daily, electrical, rolling blackouts, I assume the airports have huge generators to kick in when needed? Am I correct or is there a way to continually feed the airports by the grid while the surrounding areas are dark?

When was this recorded? - Waiting times at AMS should have been drastically reduced in the recent months. It was a shambles last year and easily one of the worst airport experiences ever. This airport used to be in the top 3 of best airport in the world! Now a far cry from that. EDIT: this was JUNE last year, so waiting times should be better now!
