The FAA told Boeing they would not be putting their people on the 777X until late 2022 or early 2023 as the flight they were testing on a few months ago was nosing down and display symptoms similar to the Max MCAS issues the Max had. The larger diameter engines are causing instabilities like the Max. Instabilities can create a more nimble handling fighters and most rely on their Fly By Wire systems to compensate. Passenger jets along with Pre Max 737 and pre 777X were stable. Now they are not. Witness the sales at Dubai airshow with Airbus 408 sales beating Boeing's 98 sales 4 to 1 securing their role as leading in the worlds passenger plane market. With the addition of the 350F freighter and the 220 which has no competition except from Ebraer.. Boeing is only alive due to US subsidies from the military, something they complained about when Airbus was getting started. The 737max is selling at cost to get rid of the costly backlog. The only reason half the sales for them are happening. Now that Airbus has assembly lines in the South, I dont think you'll see the political support that Boeing once exclusively saw. The 777x is a good looking plane. Does Boeing still know how to produce reliable state of the art planes? The 737max, 787s built in S Carolina and now the 777x problems are no longer rubber stamped like they were. Boeing thought as many as 6-8 maxes would crash in their lifetimes due to instability. They were caught and now the FAA is through with most of the self policing Boeing got away with. Their stock is no longer beautiful at less then half of it's price 2 years ago when this mess began. It will not get better as long as Airbus is out selling them 4 to 1. 408 Airbus 98 Boeing says far more then a 777x showing how nice it looks taking off.
