Thanks for the video bro! My staytrem bridge for my MIJ traditional 60s Jazzmaster came in last week. Dude it’s incredible. The vintage bridge was so temperamental. The new one is a breeze. I was even able to lower my action a bit. Highly recommend!!

@@NathanSink I LOVE It, it's more expansive than Staytrem for sure, BUT you can choose from rocking and non rocking version and also buy additional posts, so you can switch from one "philosophy" to the other in seconds (non rocking is also avalaible in imperial or metric, for direct fit on USA or Squier without modifications).

Mastery vs Staytrem? Which do you prefer and why if price wasn’t a factor? Appreciate it!
@NathanSink2 жыл бұрын
I’ve honestly never tried a mastery. 😬 I’d love to compare them though. Like I said in the video, I think the Staytrem does what the original bridge does but better (at least with more dependability). I’m very curious how much sustain the mastery adds & if it changes the fundamental “nature” of the Jazzmaster (or Jaguar).
@court24882 жыл бұрын
@@NathanSink ah gotcha! Was hoping you had experience with both. Ok last question, did you feel that the staytrem took away some of the chime/jangle from the guitar when you installed it? Or did it make the tone (I know subjective), better?
@NathanSink2 жыл бұрын
@@court2488 I think the jangle is still there!

Friend of mine, sebastien duhamel did a shootout video. It’s on youtube. Me I had 3 staytrems and 3 masteries. To me mastery doesnt change the sound so much (not as much as putting a new set of strings does). A little more sustain yes, but it’s not night and day. Staytrem do sound less bright than the original (some say dull). I ended up putting staytrem on my mustang, give one to my friend, and still have one left. But on my jag and my 2 jazzmasters, I ended up putting masteries on all three, because it’s by far the more reliable regarding tuning stability when using tremolo a lot.

Have you ever tried a Compton bridge? I hit StayTrem up and they basically told me to look elsewhere because my Classic Player Jazzmaster has an AOM bridge. Much like the stock Mascis JMs do
@NathanSink2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I think I’ve come across those at some point in my research. Yeah, looks like you have to have AOM/TOM (adjust-o-matic or tune-o-matic for those who might not know) or ABR posts for the Compton bridge. Have you considered a TonePros roller bridge? I recently added one to my Les Paul & did a video on it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGqTd3qcqpiSgq8
@josuesorto34532 жыл бұрын
@@NathanSink roller bridges definitely came up in my research and I think it’s a viable option. Did you find the roller bridge to change the tone in any way? How hard was it to dowel and drill your JMJM?
@NathanSink2 жыл бұрын
@@josuesorto3453 so I actually have the Vintage Modified Jazzmaster, not the Jay Mascis. Mine came originally with a vintage style bridge, so I didn’t have to do any drilling. However, when changing from an AOM/ABR style to the TonePros on my Les Paul, I didn’t notice any tonal difference.
@Rainy782 жыл бұрын
So this wont fit the J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster?
@NathanSink2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe so. The J Mascis has a totally different type of bridge (TOM or tuno-o-matic), so there will probably be fit up issues.

And now not taking any orders. Too wishy washy of a company to sit and wait . Plenty of offset bridge options. If Staytrem does not want to expand that's fine. All this work to improve resonance and sustain yet there's collars of either tape or plastic around the posts, which are the direct transmitters of the resonance to the body. I'm sorry but this is a big disconnect.
@NathanSinkАй бұрын
@@kimbopslayer562 actually, the sides of the bridge posts on a Jazzmaster aren’t designed to touch inner edges of the bridge inserts (thimbles). Because of the rocking design, the only contact is where the “points” of the post rests on the bottom of the thimble. That’s a big part of why Jazzmasters don’t have a lot of sustain.
