Great content Shadz, nice one. See's the deer (or fox, rabbit, pig, goat ........), on the way home. Happened to every hunter that ever lived lol. Crack on champion, keep chasing.

Hey mate, what would be your recommendation on 223 vs 243 for shooting anything from foxes to pigs and goats? 223 ammo costs less but 243 is more powerful and harder hitting.

hey mate, on a broadside chest shot, do you aim straight above the front leg/into the shoulder or behind the front leg/behind the shoulder?
@outbackshadz3809
@outbackshadz3809 2 жыл бұрын
Straight above the leg and half the height of the body of the deer. That’s the spot

I wouldn't worry about the family ing the creek. The deer are more likely to come out at dusk or later, the family will likely be back at camp by then.

Good onya! if your looking for Fallows look for dry Creek beds in gullies with either a creek or dam not far away. The fallow like to rut in creek beds in clearings in amongst fairly thick native forest. Sometimes you have to bash your way into the gullies for 50 to 100m. Look for rub trees and scrapes or holes dug in the ground when they scrape the ground to scent it up. The fallow rut is pretty much 28th March to the 16 to 20th April and there is sometimes a second rut if there was not alot of cold frosty low temp nights and mornings in the first rut. Look into buying a deer rattle to use during the rut as you could have moved towards the croak and tried rattling him in

@@outbackshadz3809 Yeah sweet. where you heard that buck croak you may have been able to cross the creek and gone up that hillside and seen what was on the other side or on top.. its worth using google earth to find the gullies. The big bucks normally live up high in the thick stuff

You’re absolutely right. It would be MUCH easier not to film, create a narrative, think about camera angles and placement, lug around recording gear, edit, upload BUT then I cant share my experience with my family, friends and whoever else may find value from the experience. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.👍
