@tomschmidt41643 сағат бұрын
The helos are used daily/regularly to shuttle big wigs (very unimportant people) around DC, mostly military types, often to/from the pentagon and bases in the area. They fly at low altitude, and are a major noise and air traffic nuisance. In addition, they fly a route along the Potomac that intersects with the airport's take off and landing patterns over the river, in one of the most restricted and complex air spaces to navigate in the US. I would also like to add that just a few months ago, Congress approved additional slots for Reagan National, despite strong opposition from the safety experts and local pols, including Virginia's two Senators. Just so "they" can avoid Dulles and get in and out of DC easier.

This is a perfect example of how incompetent the government is. The cause of this accident is obvious. The helicopter pilots accepted responsibility for separation and did not follow through. The airline pilots were not made aware of the helicopter. The helicopter and plane were on different frequencies so couldn't hear each other. The controller was too busy to give earlier and more urgent warnings to both pilots. Helicopter pilots frequently are allowed to traverse under aircraft very close to the airport. Collision avoidance systems are deactivated at low altitudes when they are most needed. Case closed. Get rid of FAA and NTSB. They're useless.
@zbagz0140 минут бұрын
This is a perfect example of exactly how to go about an investigation. You may think you know, but you don't. Did the pilot have a medical emergency? Was there a chopper malfunction? Did they try to turn back and couldn't? There will also be a slew of lawsuits. That's another reason why shooting your mouth off before you really know the facts is not a good idea. /

Trump blamed DEI hires. But the truth is: JANUARY 10 - Trump fires the head of the Federal Aviation Administration, the department in charge of flight safety JANUARY 21 - Trump freezes hiring for Air Traffic Controllers JANUARY 22- Trump disbands the Aviation Safety Advisory Committee JANUARY 22 - Trump lays off federal DEI hires. JANUARY 28 - Trump sends out a buyout/ retirement demand to existing employees, removing experienced safety staff JANUARY 29 - A mid-air collision in controlled airspace between an American commercial aircraft and a US military helicopter. No wonder trump fired our Inspector Generals who were the American people's watch dogs.

The black boxes from the helicopter and Airplane will tell informe you !! Could very well be a mechanical problem. Why does this loud mouth bully like blaming without having the facts!?

Why do these people drag out a news conference what they could have told us in 3 minutes or less. So basically, they dont know anything and they didn't get a good night's sleep. Fire them, let's hire some people that can get stuff done in the next 72 hours. In the Corpoemrate world these people would have been told to get a job elsewhere because working fast, efficient, and professionally, is not for them. Maybe they can become yoga instructors or something else like that.

NTSB …. The Dude with the extra large flash cards needs find another job not in front of the camera. He sucks to be the rep to face the nation on behalf of the NTSB. Breathing like he’s out of breath when he is just talking . Is this the best you have?

I'm so glad there's a bunch of extremely intelligent people to investigate This horrific tragedy, they will definitely get to the bottom of what went so terribly wrong. After listening and watching the traffic controller audio and computer screen, it was clear the traffic controller wasn't paying attention, in my belief all of the planes were travelling way too close for the speed they travel the controller wasn't paying attention to what what was going on right in front of him on his computer screen, anybody could see that the altitude of the plane and the helicopter we're at the same altitude and about to cross paths.😢 I don't know why these air traffic control systems aren't fully automated and only monitored by humans. Almost every plane accident has been caused by human error we need to rely on smart Technologies humans make errors.

Three times as many school kids bite the dust each month . I'm sad for the loss of life but many of us recall when jetliner crashes were fairly common events and no one imagined the slaughter of our children. Sorry if I seems insensitive, but the dbl standard is mond blowing

You’re kidding. Biden had no clue what was going on or wouldn’t have done a press conference.

Are you talking about the man who couldn't climb a flight of stairs without falling and the woman who couldn't speak to her followers without a teleprompter. Maybe speak to Riley's parents and see if they agree with you

The stupidity is mind blowing. Be honest, Biden didn't know his own name. And Kamala with her word salads. That is your definition of competent??
@kimclarke50184 сағат бұрын
@@Neesie75minion you are an example of the ignorant in America. I live on the Virginia side of the river where that plane went down. The helicopter hit that plane because there were witnesses in cars on the GW Parkway that saw the collision and both aircraft fall into the water. So many died that will never get to live their lives. Have some respect.

This is meant to be a joke right?? You can't seriously call Biden and Harris competent.
