8:20 interesting detail. He's playing match grip for more sound as the train passes by, then when it gets quiet again he goes back to traditional (in style of course)

Highly impressive and mesmerizing drumming! Also loving the sample work. There's this immediate, deep connection for me, despite---or because of?---the rhythmic complexity. Great stuff.

Is it also called match grip if both hands are doing chopsticks bc your hands would be matching. If you were playing with two super long pinky finger nails you had grown out and reinforced with military grade polish, that would not be match grip because although your hands would be matching, you are not gripping the striking implement, but one could and should argue that the fingernails do grip the finger, however that is coincidental to how the cells in the human body behave and should be reasonably thrown out. Have you ever woken up in the night surrounded by your drums when you for sure didn't place them there before you fell asleep? What is the clinical term for that? One last thought, I am imagining you before you became a master drummer, making a living as a hibachi chef, cutting it up like this on the grill with a spatula and anything else at hand. Just getting so close to finding your sound, so excited by what you were hearing, some people wowed by the experience, but not the person whose egg is being neglected, blackening and blackening, chopped up and sizzling, and blackening still, carcinogenic nascent jams...

Very impressive but drumming devoid of groove will never make sense to me. It just feels like a sport. It should be about the music, not about the skill.
