I took 'advanced calculus' from NTU 40 years ago. At the end of course, I lost the ability to count from 1, 2, 3,... to infinite. Now, I still think there should be only a single course for calculus, no 'advanced' or 'entry-level' as long as that single course maintains reasonable logical rigorousness. For those who wants to dig deeper into the logical argument, just go to something like 'real analysis'. The problem of dividing calculus into 'entry-level' and 'advanced' is that logical reasoning in 'entry-level' course are always sacrificed becuase people think it can be delayed to 'advanced' course. The result is students can do calculus without knowing what is calculus.

Quite interesting to read your views toward THE MATH, the rudimentary of the science. Of course, there ain't any division from the basic to advance level in math at all. It's human job. It all depends on " HOW MANY THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL MATH" you had learn in the past cumulatively to get understand those profound theory by the time you have dived into the vast field of knowledge and applying in REAL LIFE you need to use. LOLOLOLLL There still have " basic" and " advanced" divisions. In the same way, for the linquestic talent by your definiton as an example I DO NOT AGREE WITH YOURS AT ALL. LOLOLOLLL... NOT AT ALL... BTW, ME a typical production example of Taiwan EXCRUCIATE strict Educational System. LOLOLOLLL For educational nurture, I did earn a lot; but also lost a lot in some aspects somehow. So think about yourself, math and your level.

After graduating from NTU, I got my Ph. D. degree in statistics in US. I am still wondering is there a physical world that you throw a coin n times, number of head divided by n does not converge when n tends to infinite. What will that world like? probably no math, no stat department.
