I wish we could celebrate our indigenous native language but instead we use standing orders to percecute, execute and then finally strangle the most popular language in Africa, Swahili. Daktari Agnes my former neighbour(Shanzu) ka ngumu usitingike hata nukta moja. Some Senators cannot express themselves in swahili language as per the proceedings as observed but they had the audacity to correct swahili language using English language, extreme incompatibility. For example the modus operandi used by Senator of Kericho is misplaced, it's like driving a tractor on a staircase and it also confirms how some of our leaders are not swahili savvy and yet they are quick to critique by using standing orders, since when did our constitution become a Kamusi or a dictionary? Please give Senator Agnes Zani a break when she expounds words in Kiswahili for you which will eventually enrich your Kiswahili vocabulary. Just like english they are words which are interchangeable in usage but have the same meaning, so is Kiswahili also, but the absence of such word like the one question in our constitution does not mean it is a forbidden word which has lost its meaning in its usage by ethnic speakers or amounts to gross misconduct in parliament. To be mute sometimes helps especially if the subject matter is alien at least you have the opportunity to learn something by listening, which is a very important skill by the way. In Europe(Belgium)/North America (Canada) respective parliaments transact business in their own national languages, it's here in Kenya where we don't approve of such practise instead we make our national language, swahili sound very ugly and very unparliamentary, big shame. Senator Agnes Zani, your Dad is very proud of you for the stand you demonstrated in ensuring swahili has a special place in our midst by preserving and advancing its usage and understanding. Swahili language is an integral part of our national identity and which should be ranked highly by indigenous speakers. There is no language that is homogeneous in its anatomy, every language has some sort of carry over from somewhere which Arabic is not an except considering that they are several Arabic dialects. The religion factor is the impetus which resulted the popularity of Arabic language and in the same vein one can infer that the popularity of English language in the world is a function of colonization otherwise the two language would have been confined within the habitat of ethnic speakers whose population are not that great relatively that warrants its popularity.
