On The Farm: Kapchorwa farmer overcomes unpredictable weather with irrigation farming

Unpredictable weather patterns affect the work of many farmers across the country, largely because they are subsistence farmers who operate on a small scale. But even when you operate small, it’s possible to grow crops throughout the year by irrigation. Joel Cherop is a young model farmer in Kapchorwa district who is engaged in irrigation. Ivan Kimuli Kigozi speaks to Cherop in this edition of On the Farm.

Iam surprised and amazed the in the 31 years of M7's government, this spray irrigation system is such a wonderful thing, when it is actually not the best for plants and the scarce water!! In the neighbouring country Kenya, which is a million years ahead, they are already widely using the drip irrigation which is by far the most effective, effective in that, one uses less water and less waste of much needed water and at the end of the day cheap!!
